Adventures Plus - Child Care Assistant (This position is similar to a childcare Aide.)
I. Reporting Relationship:
The Adventures Plus Child Care Assistant reports to and takes direction from the Site Leaders and Site Coordinator.
II. Basic Function of the Position:
Child Care Assistants supervise and engage with all school-age children, occasionally plan and regularly implement daily age-appropriate activities and other duties as assigned, including possible site reassignment depending on program needs.
III. Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Maintain required staff-child ratios.
Assist with before and after school setup, including breakfast and snack.
Demonstrate great customer service. Provide an environment that welcomes children of all abilities and of all diverse backgrounds and their families. Greet children and families daily.
Assisting with behavior modification plans for children as needed.
Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings and required professional development.
Maintain professional boundaries, a positive attitude and be a positive role model at all times.
Follow Adventures Plus and Anoka Hennepin School District policies and procedures.
Contribute to a collaborative and cooperative teamwork environment.
IV. Work Environment:
Adapt to the environment of the children. Busy, noisy, shared spaces such as the cafeteria and gym. Must be able to be indoors and outdoors.
Child Care Assistant Lane 2 (This position is similar to a childcare Assistant Teacher.)
The Adventures Plus Lane 2 Child Care Assistant reports to and takes direction from the Site Leaders and Site Coordinator.
Similar to a Child Care Assistant Teacher, Lane 2 Child Care Assistant support all children while prioritizing children with special needs with varying disabilities or diagnoses, according to the child’s inclusion plan. Supervise and interact with all school-age children and assist in planning appropriate activities. Perform a group leadership role as requested. Perform other duties as assigned.
Implement site standard accommodations for all students.
Implement a child’s health plan and/or safety plan which may include use of communication device, use of visuals, adaptive equipment, toileting, feeding and self care procedures (Example..Diabetes management, catheter cares, feeding tubes and transitioning a student to and from a wheelchair).
Implement a child’s behavior modification plan with students who may display behaviors such as inappropriate verbal and/or physical behaviors.
Proactive support of students, teaching skills, assisting in social interactions, monitoring emotions, providing breaks as needed.
Assuming a leadership role in managing situations involving an escalated child.
Adapting activities, as needed, to allow active participation by the child/ren.
V. Education and/or Experience:
Must demonstrate aptitude for working with school-age children. High school diploma/equivalent PLUS 120 hours of training in a child-related area OR 12 college credits in a child-related area OR proof of passing the ParaPro/Paraeducator exam. PLUS 6 months consistent experience working with children OR 1,040 hours of paid experience working with children.

Similar to a Child Care Director; Plan and carry out activities for school-age children and supervise children involved in the program. Most assignments will be split shifts. Supervise Child Care Assistant staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
Plan and provide enriching and age-appropriate activities to meet the needs of all children both AM and PM, including implementing all Adventures Plus initiatives.
Adapt activities, as needed, to allow active participation by the child/ren.

Provide work direction, training and mentoring to all child care assistants, Lane 2 child care assistants, volunteers, and interns. Participate in the employee goal setting and evaluation process. Provide regular feedback and address performance concerns in a timely manner.
Must demonstrate aptitude for working with school-age children. High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree (60 college credits) / Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA); and 1 year (2080 hours) of experience working with children. ~ OR ~ 24 credits in Areas of Training/Credit listed below; and 2 years (4160 hours) of experience working with children in Out of School Time (OST).

First-aid/CPR and CPI certified upon hire within 90 days - provided free of charge by Adventures Plus.

Adventures Plus Hybrid Site Leader / Lane 2 Child Care Assistant Full-Time - 260 days/6 hours - Split AM and PM shift Location: Determined by student enrollment Adventures Plus is a child care program located in various elementary schools throughout the District to provide before and after school care for elementary age students. Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool and Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) provide early learning opportunities for children and their families. Preschool serves 3-5 years old children with the goal of preparing children for kindergarten by providing a variety of early learning experiences. ECFE is a parenting and early childhood education program that provides classes, home visits, special family events and other services for parents and their children aged to five. Both programs run 31-36 weeks per year, 2 to 30 hours per week, including summer classes with classes located throughout the school district. Duties include: Perform a leadership role in supporting students with Proactive Intervention Program (PIP) plans and implementing strategies in the classroom. Provide communication with parents/guardians at pick up and/or drop off. Be an active member in classroom team meetings to best support and plan for needs of specific students. Complete paperwork including Behavior Incident Reports (BIRs). Assist in conducting group and individual activities for children ages 3-5 in Preschool, children birth to five and their parents in ECFE.
