Responsibilities
As an ASL Educational Interpreter Intern, you will witness and assist other interpreters in creating accessibility for the students in the classroom. The student will have access to the classroom content and to the classroom social life.
As a Public Interpreter Intern, you will gain experience in public translation and communication. You will be immersed in our culture and learn how to professionally translate for different scenarios.
As a Student Teacher Intern, you will assist your teacher leaders in their day-to-day classroom practices. You will learn the fundamentals of teaching in a Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, or Visually Impaired environment.
Educational Leadership Practicums offer chances to enhance leadership skills with expert guidance in  School Education Administration.

ASL ASSESSOR

Location: Phoenix, Tucson or Remote Employee Status: Temporary Hours Per Week:  As-needed Work Calendar: 12-month Pay Rate: $25.00/assessment

CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION

Conducts ASL assessments for staff and students of ASDB. The assessments are for those individuals who are acquiring ASL as a first or second (etc.) language. These assessments may include, the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) and Visual Communication Sign Language (VCSL) assessments, among others.   Required: Previous experience working with children or adults using American Sign Language in paid/voluntary positions in educational and/or administrative settings Preferred:  Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, i.e. American Sign Language, and/or Deaf Education; Experience in teaching and/or assessing ASL; Knowledge and training of VSCL and/or SLPI. Obtained ASLPI 4 or better, and/or SLPI rating Advances or Superior
