Job Summary: An individual in this role will coordinate and organize the athletic training program for all sports in the District. He or she provides athletic injury management and other health services for student athletes, and assists coaches with the design and implementation of injury prevention programs.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required, health or sports-related field preferred.
- Certification as an athletic trainer; N.A.T.A. certification is desirable.
- Successful years of experience as a K-12 athletic trainer strongly preferred.
- Hold and maintain First Aid certification and CPR certification?.
- Ability to meet the challenges of an urban school district.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide basic instruction to athletic staff members in the prevention and care of injuries.
Report all injuries to the athletic office and keeping an annual record of athletic injuries.
Assume responsibility for referring athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatment.
Develop and supervise appropriate rehabilitation/treatment programs for athletes under the direction of the physician.
Assist and advise the coaching staff regarding injury prevention,conditioning programs, and the selection, care, and fitting of protective equipment.
Determine if an injured player is capable of continued participation in a game and/or practice.
Treat/supervise the treatment of all minor athletic injuries and conditions.
Assume responsibility for the organization, inventory, and requisition of all training room supplies, as well as the upkeep of the training room.
Be present at all varsity football games and practices, plus junior varsity and freshman games. The trainer must be present at all varsity basketball games (men & women) and varsity wrestling matches.
Assist in making arrangements for scheduling athletic physicals with team physicians.
Perform such other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee may occasionally need to run, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
