NATURE OF WORK:
Under the direction of the Recreation Program Coordinator and/or their designee, this position is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all policies and procedures. The Substitute Preschool Teacher will be responsible for filling in with assisting in the planning and implementing a program to teach young children. They must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with policies. The Substitute Preschool Teacher will be respectful of children, parents, and co-workers to ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. Failure to provide adequate services may place children at risk. They will provide basic preschool instruction; including assisting in the planning and leading of games, small group projects and innovative activities for these children.

Work includes oversight of recreation programming at South End Community Center including the drop in play space, open gym times, and others. This is a professional position requiring the performance of a variety of civil engineering and project management tasks for city infrastructure improvement projects including multimodal transportation, utilities, and park amenities. Tasks include completion of engineering challenge studies, preparation of contract documents (plans and specifications), cost estimating, field inspection, field reports, approval of contractor pay estimates, and project closeout tasks. NATURE OF WORK: This is an entry-level manual labor apprentice program involving on-the-job training to learn and perform maintenance and repair work in the Streets, Traffic, Forestry, Greenways, and Recycling and Environmental Divisions; including administrative duties and use of computer software. This position may be required to work weekends and rotating shifts during certain seasons. Safety equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, reflective vests, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and other protective equipment is worn. Participation in the apprentice program is not a guarantee of future employment. Participation is limited to a maximum of 12 months in duration and is dependent on the availability of City funding.

Nature of Work:
This is advanced, skilled, master-level mechanic work installing, maintaining, rebuilding, and repairing a wide variety of water treatment plant equipment, pumps, instruments, and systems. Work involves repairing, maintaining, rebuilding, installing, and servicing equipment such as compressors, pumps, motors, valves, chemical feeders, chlorinators, filters, refrigeration equipment, instrument panels, and electrical equipment, following blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals, using hand tools, welding equipment, and testing instruments associated with water plant operations. Work includes performing all the essential functions of a Water Plant Operator. Employees may be assigned tasks of a similar or higher-level classification to gain experience and training in preparation for advancement. Nature of Work:This is a professional, technical, and managerial position within the bureau of capital planning & engineering. Work involves directing the city's traffic engineering & operations, transportation, and right-of-way permit activities as well as supervising staff, contractors, and additional collaborative or cross departmental teams. This role will perform professional engineering work in planning, developing, programming, designing for the city. It will also lead efforts in designing and implementing transportation/traffic engineering plans and capital improvement projects in compliance with city, state, federal regulations. In addition, the role will review private development plans, assist in preparation of capital improvement budget, and assist in programming of projects for the city council.
Reviews developments, private projects affecting the public right-of-way, coordinates with the project team and internal/external stakeholders, evaluates traffic and multimodal impacts, and provides recommendations regarding access, circulation, and mitigation measures.
Prepares Requests for Proposals, Qualifications, and Bid documents for capital improvement projects, and recommends contract approval to the City Council. Manages contract negotiation and administration of consultants retained for infrastructure improvement or planning purposes.
