Cumberland Valley School District currently has an 8 hours per day, Custodian I position available.
The job entails maintaining the physical school plant in operation by providing clean sanitary building conditions and neat well-trimmed grounds.
The essential functions of this position require the employee to be adaptable and flexible enough to adjust to changing conditions; willingness to cooperate and work as part of a team; ability to be a self-starter and self-motivating; able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and comprehend same; able to use ordinary arithmetic including decimals and fractions; practices good safety awareness and procedures; helps to maintain clean safe, physical environment; helps to maintain the minimal records needed to fulfill school and regulatory requirements; recognizes and respects co-workers’ staffs’ and students’ rights.

The successful candidate for this position must possess a Bachelors Degree in Education (Special Education / Elementary Education), with valid and active Pennsylvania Teaching Certifications in Special Education (PK-8 and/or PK-12). Three to five years of teaching experience is preferred. Experience and working knowledge of collaborative instructional practices with regular education staff as well as Direct Instruction and instructional practices and curriculum integrating the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis as well as explicit and direct instruction. Cumberland Valley School District has an Educational Assistant (EA) II position, offering 7.5 work hours per day. Individuals selected for EA II assignments will have responsibilities that are tailored to the primary program assigned, ensuring that educational strategies, support services and student development are aligned with the unique needs, backgrounds and learning styles of these students. EA II’s are compensated at a starting wage of $18.90/hr for the 2024-2025 school year. The primary program assignment for an EA II will be in a life skills classroom. Priority will be given to candidates possessing direct experience within a life skills classroom. The EA plays a vital role in fostering a supportive and effective learning environment, ensuring that all students can succeed. This position works closely with classroom teachers and other district employees to provide instructional support, manage classroom/building activities and assist with the implementation of educational programs. Strong interpersonal skills are required and the desire to work interactively with students and staff is essential. Personal knowledge and work experience with school-aged children and children with cognitive, physical and behavioral disabilities is highly sought. Experience and working knowledge supporting program delivery for students with disabilities in a public school system is highly desired. However, training will be provided. Candidates should be sensitive to students from a variety of cultures and have patience with students trying to learn a second language. Fluency in English is required while multilingual abilities are a plus. The successful candidate must have a high school diploma. A two-year Associates Degree or higher is preferred (or the ability to pass a highly-qualified assessment). The employee must take twenty (20) hours of training annually to maintain their Highly Qualified Status. The individual must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time, bend, stretch and lift 50 pounds as well as having corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges.
