The School Social Work Intern will support students' social, emotional, and academic success under the supervision of a licensed school social worker(s). Responsibilities include conducting student assessments, implementing individual and group interventions, collaborating with school staff, families, and special education teams, and connecting students to community resources. The intern will actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and support students with special needs. Teacher Assistants play a vital role in the educational team, supporting teachers and students to ensure a positive, productive learning environment. This position involves working alongside professional colleagues to enhance classroom instruction and provide individualized or small-group support for students, including English language learners and those with special needs.
Assist in individual, small-group, or large-group instruction under teacher supervision.
If assigned to work with students with special needs, implement accommodations and supports specified in students’ IEPs.
Facilitate classroom routines and provide additional support to facilitate instruction and learning, including organizing materials.
Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and staff to support learning objectives.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students.
Possess or have the ability to acquire appropriate licensure in Illinois to serve as a paraprofessional
Paraprofessionals meet qualifications by possessing either of the following:
A Short-term Approval as a Paraprofessional (Reference this ISBE document for information)

A Substitute teacher license (Reference this ISBE document for information)
A Professional Educator License
Prior experience in an educational or child care setting is beneficial

Willingness to complete required licensure and training, including Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).

Competitive hourly wage based with a starting rate on the Teacher Assistant Salary Schedule at Step 0 with no experience as a teacher or paraprofessional or Step 1 with one or more years of experience as a teacher or paraprofessional
