POSITION: Job Placement Specialist (Grant Position) (FVEC) up to 20 hrs./wk. Grade 4 10 Month ASSIGNMENT: Temporary Assignment: Start: August 14, 2017 - End: June 1, 2018 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This work involves close interaction with school divisions and adult service agencies to coordinate the student's transition from school to work and adult services. A Job Placement Specialist provides a school-based service, designated by an Individualized Education Program (IEP), in which part of a student's school day is spent working in a community-based job-training site or competitive employment. An employee in this position is expected to exercise independent judgment,discretion, confidentiality and react appropriately in crisis situations as well as exhibit initiative, creativity and organizational skills. QUALIFICATIONS:
POSITION EXPECTATIONS: 1. Assists students in the classroom and worksite under the direction of certified staff by implementing instructional and behavioral goals identified in the student's IEP. 2 Assists certified staff by: a. maintaining accurate student records b. assisting students in overcoming employment barriers c. documenting and disseminating transportation and job site incident report 3. Serves as a liaison to the Transitional Vocational Services program by: a. providing instruction on required job duties and responsibilities related to the students learning style b. completing destination training as appropriate to facilitate utilization of public transportation system c. acting as a liaison between student, employer, case manager and possible parents/guardian d. attending TVS training sessions and staff meetings e. assisting case manager/IR Coordinator by arranging transportation to and form work site as necessary 4. Assists at the work site by completing task analysis and modifying job requirements to meet individual student's abilities and to facilitate learning. 5. Grade 4 Effective: August 25, 2017 ASSIGNMENT: 10 Month GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This work involves close interaction with staff, students and parents/guardians, with the primary emphasis on the implementation of specialized or vocational educational programs. An Instructional Assistant works under the direction of a certified teacher.
