• be entering your final semester of a teacher preparation program
• complete the CUSD 303 Student Teacher Application
• pass a criminal background check through the Kane County Regional Office of Education
• be enrolled in an accredited university/college that has a relationship with CUSD 303.
Every effort will be made to place student teachers at their requested location or with the requested cooperating teacher who will provide proper mentoring and supervision. However, if the request cannot be met, Human Resources will forward the request to all remaining schools that are accepting student teachers in the subject/level, unless requested otherwise.

St. Charles School District 303 has many opportunities to substitute in our 17 schools. We set high expectations for our students, staff and substitute support staff.

To work as part of our Substitute Teaching Team, you will need one of the following: Valid and active Illinois Professional Teaching License (PEL), Illinois Substitute Teaching License (SUB) (requires a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education), or a Paraprofessional License and a bachelor's degree.
 
• Daily Substitute Teacher Rate:  $145 per day
• Loyalty Rate (after 31 days as a District 303 Daily Substitute Teacher): $165 per day
• Long Term Substitute Teacher Rate: $220 per day

To work as a Teacher Assistant, you will need a paraprofessional license from the Illinois State Board of Education and the license must be registered in Kane County. To qualify for this license, you need and Associates Degree, 60 credit hours with an accredited college, or a passing score on an approved test.  See Paraprofessional License Requirements for more information.

To work as a substitute Registered Nurse, you will need a nursing license and CPR certification.

In addition to the online application, valid licensure, two letters of reference, and a fingerprint-based background check must be provided.
