Intercultural Specialist Districtwide Start Date: August 26, 2019 (195 paid days per year) Banded/Graded: C-4-1 Salary: $46,953.75 Hours: 8 hrs/day Monday- Friday Responsible To: Building Principal Director of Equity and Inclusion Position Purpose: To increase the capacity of Eastern Carver County Schools to design, implement, and evaluate culturally and linguistically competent education systems to address growing diversity, persistent disparities, and to promote education equity. To understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures. To assist in developing mutual understanding between schools, families, and communities. Required Qualifications: Experience and skills that teachers and school staff need in order to improve their practice to serve all students and communicate effectively with their families. Experience with educators to build on the cultural and language qualities that young people bring to the classroom. Experience with Family and Community Support systems. Knowledge of the American Education system. Knowledge of adult learning theory. Experience with ELL and working with parents across cultures and be self-directed. Preferred Qualifications: Bi-lingual speaker/writer, experience with various cultural family systems. BS/BA Degree in Education, Community Education, Social Work, Multicultural studies, Counseling or related field.
