QUALIFICATIONS
The Head Football Coach will be responsible for leading the Apple Valley High School Football Program within the philosophy, standards, and expectations of the AVHS Athletic Department and in accordance with MSHSL guidelines. This individual must build strong relationships and work successfully with student-athletes, assistant coaches, parents, the community, school administration, teachers, and youth program leadership across District 196.
This person oversees all aspects of AVHS Football, including but not limited to:
Varsity, Junior Varsity, Sophomore, and Freshman teams
Assistant coaching staff
Student volunteers, team managers, and support personnel
Equipment, uniforms, and supplies for all levels (Grades 9–12)
Collaboration with youth football association and middle-school feeder programs
Scheduled Hours and Days per Week:
Practice and game times as scheduled throughout the season. Evening and weekend competitions are required. Offseason responsibilities, including training, camps, player development, staff coordination, and community engagement, are also expected.

To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical preparation required for individual and team success.
To teach, model, and reinforce behaviors that build high character, accountability, leadership, and positive team culture.
To develop a comprehensive program structure that supports long-term athlete development from youth through varsity.
To continue professional growth through coaching clinics, program visits, film study, and consultation with coaching peers.
Public Relations:
Organizes preseason meetings for players, parents, assistant coaches, and key program stakeholders.
Promotes football within AVHS through recruitment, positive visibility, and support of multi-sport participation.
Builds strong community connections by partnering with youth football programs, attending events, and engaging families.
Works with booster clubs to create meaningful experiences for student-athletes on and off the field.
Maintains positive relationships with media, officials, volunteers, parents, and fans.
Provides accurate information to media regarding schedules, results, statistics, and awards.
