    Salary:                                    $12.12 per hour

    Job Description: The School Security Officer provides services as an employee of EDUStaff serving East Detroit Public Schools. The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure campus environment.
     
    Responsibilities:
    • the implementation of overall school campus security pursuant to district and company policy at all times.
    • a uniformed presence for the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
    • and provide security for campus property, buildings, and grounds and guard against crime, including theft and vandalism.
    • complaints and incidents according to established procedures.
    • crowd control duties as necessary.
    • doors and windows for security; ensure all doors are properly secured at all times.
    • police and other emergency responders, as necessary.
    • Maintain logs/records and reports, as needed.
    • in training as, scheduled.
    • effectively as a member of the school team to provide a safe and secure educational environment for students.
    • the District and EDUStaff in a professional manner by performing all job functions at a satisfactory or above level.
    • with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in positive, supportive, and cooperative ways.
    • other related duties, including special projects, as required or requested, consistent with reasonable expectations for the contracted position.
    Qualifications:
    • High School diploma or higher.
    • Completion of the required Global Compliance Network online training modules.
    • ability to solve problems, analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
    • record of good attendance and punctuality.
    • strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communications.
    • ability to write accurate, clear and concise reports.
    • ability to work under stressful situations.
    • understanding of sensitivity to and appreciation for the academic, ethnic, socio- economic, disability and gender diversity of the students, staff, families and community.
    • meet criminal history background requirements (requires FBI Fingerprint and PSOR clearance)
     Pre-Screening Requirements:
    1. Previous security experience
    2. Previous work in a school setting or in a school type environment
    3. Some type of training or college
    4. Understanding of customer service and how they respond to what could be a more aggressive situation
    5. First Aid and CPR (If not, must become First Aid and CPR trained before starting position)
