Job purpose
The Aftercare Staff shall provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment to our GRACE students by providing creative activities, assisting with homework, and supervising all activities indoors as well as outdoors. Aftercare staff person must be aware at all times of location and activity of every student under their supervision. This position is an in-person, on-campus role.
Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Being present at planning meeting for Aftercare staff before the start of school year.
Implementing a daily schedule allowing for playtime, snack time and quiet time (homework).
Read and agree to Aftercare Policy and Guidelines including discipline procedures, notifying parents when necessary, concerning repeated discipline issues and if necessary, completing and submitting to the principal Parent Discipline Notification.
Staff person is required to sign in all children assigned to them on appropriate attendance sheet and obtain parent/guardian signature at time of check-out. It is the responsibility of the staff person to assure that person signing child out has authorization to do so. If necessary, staff person should ask for identification or detain person until a phone call may be made.
Communicate any concerns or discipline issues to the Aftercare Director.
Implementing proper first aid measures as set down in Aftercare Guidelines in event of injury or illness.
Be prepared to follow guidelines for fire drills and code red procedures.
Assigned area should be neat and clean at close of day, litter picked up, activities put away in proper cabinet and tables wiped.
Establish a warm, welcoming, friendly relationship with not only the children but their parents as well.
Welcome each child with a smile. If need be, listen to their concerns and be interested in whatever they may share with you about their school day.
Be sure to keep all conversations with students positive and uplifting.
Keep lines of communication open with parents as well and be sure to engage in conversation with them concerning their child, ALWAYS greeting them as they come to pick up their child.
General
Shall seek to role model in attitude, speech, and actions as consistent with a daily walk with Jesus Christ.
Shall follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.
Shall support the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities as requested.
Shall know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
Shall contribute to the general improvement of the school program.
Shall refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.
Shall perform any other duties which may be assigned by the Head of School.
Shall demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
Shall meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism.
Shall respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.
Shall maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste and in agreement with school policy.
Shall be an effective communicator in written and oral communication.
Shall recognize the need for good public relations and represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public, including in the use of social media.
Shall place the ministry of GRACE Christian School ahead of outside or volunteer work.
Shall make an effort to appreciate and understand the uniqueness of the community.
Having accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior, shall affirm publicly, and have a lifestyle consistent with GRACE’s Statement of Faith and the GRACE Mission, Vision and Core Values.
Must adhere to work hours that are set to perform the required job function.
Attends and participates in scheduled campus and/or school meetings as needed.
Qualifications
Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Proven classroom management skills preferred.
The employee shall be one who has received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Communications with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student.

Hours:
This position works an average of 15-20 hours per week. Due to the nature of the Athletics department, exact hours are determined by the Athletic Director and may vary on a weekly basis, depending on sports or academic schedules.

Prepare each practice and game, giving my utmost for His highest.
Seek not to be served by my athletes for personal gain, but serve them as Christ served the church.

Attend carefully to my private and public walk with God, knowing that the athlete will never rise to a standard higher than that being lived by the coach.
Glorify Christ in my coaching, trusting the Lord will then draw athletes to Himself.
Desire to have a growing hunger for God’s Word, a transformed heart and daily obedience.
Depend solely upon God for transformation, one athlete at a time.
Live out Christ’s word in a Christ-like manner, on and off the field of competition.

Essential Duties
Assure that players under his/her jurisdiction understand athletic policies.
Assist Head Coach in collecting athletic paperwork and turning it into the Athletic Department.
Support the head coach in conducting the athletic program of that particular sport and total athletic program of the school.
Remain loyal to the head coach and to the team. He/she may have to give up some of his /her own thoughts regarding team strategy, etc. to fit into the overall pattern as set forth by the head coach.
Record stats when necessary
Assist head coach with developing and recommending game strategy and position assignments.
Enforcing rules and expectations of the athletic department and the head coach.
Attend all practices beginning the first day to the end of the season along with being available for all staff meetings.
Assume the responsibility for maintenance of facilities and personnel in the absence of the head coach.
Report all injuries, misconduct, or other unusual situations to the head coach, athletic director, or principal.
Assist the head coach in checking in and inventorying all equipment at the end of the season.
Assume all duties as assigned by the head coach.
Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.
Complete all requirements mandated by the State and National organizations.
Other Duties
Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.

Works with the athletic director to develop a policy for awards and submits a list of award winners at the end of the season.
Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
Assists Athletic Director in collecting eligibility forms, athletic physical forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Each Coach shall schedule an End of Season Meeting (EOS) with the Athletic Director following the final contest of the season to evaluate the program, evaluate the coach’s performance, submit final reports, and return outstanding equipment and supplies.
Other Duties
Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Secondary Principal, or Head of School.
WORK SCHEDULE
Days:
In general, this position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday during the given athletic season. Certain work requirements, events, responsibilities, or unplanned academic calendar changes could result in a need for a temporary modification of this schedule, including work on the weekend. Such schedule changes are determined in coordination with the Athletic Director.
Hours:
This position works an average of 15-20 hours per week. Due to the nature of the Athletics department, exact hours are determined by the Athletic Director and may vary on a weekly basis, depending on sports or academic schedules.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Teaching is preferred.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program.
Strong classroom management skills.
Flexibility to work well with a number of faculty and staff members in an ever- changing environment.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Comfortable with operating Audio/Visual equipment.
Experience working with children and students preferred.
Ability to follow and enforce rules, policies, and procedures.
Must be detail oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Qualifications:
Possess appropriate class license (CDL).
Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to vans and commercial passenger vehicles (bus) where applicable to ensure bus transportation provided is in compliance with the NCDOT regulations.
Desire and ability to work with children.
Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
Successful completion of a background and motor vehicle report.
Duties and responsibilities:
Communicate in a friendly and positive manner towards parents, students, coaches, and administration.
Observe aa Department of Motor Vehicle rules and regulations and make sure all speed limits are observed.
Ensure the safety of students at all times.
Report any concerns to your supvisor.
Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on students and staff.
Take direction from the Athletic Director and Assistant Athleitc Director.

The staff member will manifest by precept and example the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (1Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school to pupils (Luke 6:40), and as an example to all the GRACE family and fellow staff members in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living. This includes, but is not limited to, abstaining from drunkenness, illicit drugs, pornography, or the use of vulgar and profane language (Colossians 3:17, Titus 2:7-8, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, 22-23, and James 3:17-18). In addition, the staff member voluntarily limits his/her Christian liberty (to avoid being a stumbling block and to respect parental beliefs) by abstaining from the use of alcohol or tobacco at any school-related function.
The staff member will faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school (Hebrews 10:25).
The staff member accepts without verbal or mental reservation both the Statement of Faith and the Educational Philosophy and Objectives of GRACE Christian School and is committed to uphold them.
The staff member has read this Job Description and agrees to abide by the requirements listed. The staff member will become familiar with both the Faculty/Staff Manual and Parent/Student Handbook and agrees to abide by them, as well as any additions made during the year. He/she agrees to cooperate in every way with the school authorities and adhere to the policies adopted by the GRACE Board of Trustees. Failure to do so may result in probation, fines, suspension without pay, or termination of employment.
The staff member agrees to follow the biblical pattern of Matthew 18:15-17 and Galatians 6:1 and always give a good report, refraining from negative criticism and murmuring. All differences are to be resolved by utilizing biblical principles – always presenting a united front. Appropriate confidentiality will be observed in regard to pupil, parent, and school matters (Titus 3:2 and Galatians 5:15).
