2023-2024 Voluntary Transfer Request Process for
Paraeducators, Health Assistants, Security Assistants, Student Assistants and Liaisons
Eligibility and Transfer Procedures
A voluntary transfer is defined as a voluntary request to transfer to another building or department for the following school year. Staff on an action plan are not eligible for a voluntary transfer.
Eligibility Requirements:
- To be considered for a paraeducator position at a Title 1 school, you MUST have a minimum of 48 college credits, an associate's (or higher) degree or have a high school diploma/GED (or equivalent) and a passing score on the ParaPro assessment.
- To be considered for a Special Education Paraeducator - Specialized Program position, you MUST have a minimum of high school diploma or GED (or equivalent) and two (2) years of experience working with students/individuals with disabilities.
- For CURRENT Student Assistants, a transfer request may only be submitted for a change in location and not for a change in position. Therefore, to be considered for a paraeducator position you will need to submit an application for that position. Information to do so can be found on the HCPSS website.
