2024-2025 Voluntary Transfer Request Process for Teachers 
Eligibility and Transfer Procedures

A voluntary transfer is defined as a voluntary request by a teacher for a change in assignment to a different school(s). Staff on a Professional Growth Plan are not eligible for a voluntary transfer.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • To be considered for an instructional team leader position, you must be a full-time teacher, have a minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience with a minimum of one (1) year in the Howard County Public School System, and must possess the appropriate certification.
  • To be considered for a subject area(s) for which you are NOT currently certified, evidence of course completion (or Praxis results) must be submitted to the Office of Human Resources by June 1. If the required documentation for that subject area is not submitted by June 1, your transfer request for that subject area will be removed.
  • Only one voluntary transfer request form is needed to request a transfer to multiple schools.
  • Do not forward the link or attempt to complete a form that has been forwarded by another user. A link that has been forwarded may result in an inaccurate submission.
  • Set aside enough time to complete the form in one sitting as partially completed forms cannot be saved in the system.
  • If you are currently in more than one school, please select all schools.
  • Digitally sign and submit the form to your principal by utilizing the drop-down menu.
  • After your principal digitally signs the voluntary transfer request form, you will receive email confirmation from Applicant Tracking of your transfer request along with a link to the form that you can print for your records.
Deadline for Submission:

In order to be considered for a transfer for the upcoming school year, forms must be received by the Office of Human Resources by April 5, 2024. Requests received after April 5, 2024 will not be processed.
