Assistant Superintendent
Highlands School District is seeking an educational leader as our next Assistant Superintendent to serve our Pre K-12 program and provide both instructional and operational leadership. Essential Duties of the Position:
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive professional development program that is aligned with the District's Comprehensive Plan• Supervise and evaluate assigned administrative personnel• Assist the Superintendent in the selection, placement, and evaluation of instructional staff• Collaborate with the Superintendent on the development of curriculum and instruction Board policies and administrative regulations• Promote a culture of collaboration, trust, and high expectations that support learning• Serve as the District Title IX Coordinator and McKinney-Vento Liaison• Collaborate with employees, administration, and staff to ensure alignment in design, implementation, and assessment of the District's educational programming, including alignment with required District, state, and national standards• Lead the District's Induction Program that aligns with Commonwealth standards and supports professionals while focusing on the use of appropriate and effective practices and methods for student achievement• Oversee the implementation and ongoing efforts of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to ensure instruction is meeting student needs• Serve as Safety/Security Coordinator and oversee Threat Assessment Teams training and Emergency Operations Plan• Analyze data to ensure appropriate instructional benchmarks and progress are aligned for success and recalibrate and adjust efforts accordingly• Oversee and coordinate student teaching throughout the District• Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously to meet deadlines• Communicate and present information effectively to a broad range of stakeholders• Serve as District Grant Writer overseeing all submissions, implementation, and reporting
Applicants must possess demonstrated experience as a teacher in a public education setting, as well as experience in K-12 administration. A Master's degree in educational administration, educational leadership, curriculum development, or a related field; and a Pennsylvania Superintendent Letter of Eligibility and Doctorate required.

Curriculum /Federal Programs Director
Highlands School District is seeking a Curriculum Coordinator and Federal Programs Director to lead the development, alignment, and continuous improvement of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices across the district while also overseeing the implementation and compliance of federal programs. The successful candidate will work closely with administrators and teachers to strengthen instructional practices, analyze student achievement data, and support professional learning initiatives that drive academic success. This position also manages federal programs ensuring regulatory compliance, effective program coordination, fiscal oversight, and accurate reporting. This role blends instructional leadership with strategic program management to support district goals and promote student outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program. 2. Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport. (Major sports) 3. The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field. 4. The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions. REPORTS TO: The Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the school principals. SUPERVISES:In several instances, the head coach must advise, coordinate and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the Athletic Director and respective Principal. JOB GOAL:To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self discipline, self confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc. GENERAL:1. The success of athletic programs has a strong influence on the community's image of the entire system. The public exposure is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and good mental health. 2. The position includes other unusual aspect such as extended time, risk injury factor and due process predicaments. 3. It is the express intent of this job description to give sufficient guidance to function. In cases not specifically covered, it shall be assumed that a coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Has knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements same consistently and interprets them for staff. 2. Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance. STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Established the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff. Designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings to insure staff awareness of overall program. 5. Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth by encouraging clinic attendance according to local clinic policy. 6. Delegates specific duties, supervises implementation and, at season's end, analyzes staff effectiveness and evaluates all assistants. 7. Maintains discipline, adjusts grievances and works to increase morale and cooperation. 8. Performs such other duties which may be assigned by the Athletic Director/Principal. ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: 1. Assists the Athletic Director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sport events. 2. Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times. Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees. 3. Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility. 4. Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites. 5. Advises the Athletic Director and recommends policy, method or procedural changes. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletes the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. 2. Gives constant attention to a student athlete's grades and conduct. 3. By his/her presence at all practices games and while traveling, provides assistance, guidance and safeguards for each participant. 4. Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant. 5. Initiates programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies. 6. Completes paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries on proper forms and submits to athletic office within 24 hours. 7. Directs student managers, assistants and statisticians. 8. Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary and contracts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible. 9. Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection. FINANCE AND EQUIPMENT: 1. Participates in the budgeting function with the athletic director by establishing requirements for the next season. Recommends equipment guidelines as to type, style, color or technical specifications. Is responsible for operating within budget appropriations. 2. Is accountable for all equipment and collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned. Arranges for issuing, storing and reconditioning of equipment and submits annual inventory and current records concerning same. 3. Properly marks and identifies all equipment before issuing or storing. 4. Monitors equipment rooms and coaches' offices, authorizes who may enter, issue or requisition equipment. 5. Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times. 6. Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment. 7. Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty. 8. Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use. PUBLIC RELATIONS: 1. Organizes parents, coaches, players and guests for preseason meetings. 2. Promotes the sport within the school through recruiting athletes who are not in another sports program and promotes the sport outside the school through news media, little league programs, or in any other feasible manner. 3. Responsible for the quality, effectiveness and validity of any oral or written release to local media. 4. Responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers and fans. 5. LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Position Purpose
- Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment. Essential Functions Develop lesson plans and deliver small group instruction within an emotional support classroom.Maintain compliant special educational paperwork, including input forms, IEPs, FBAs, PBSPs, NOREPs, etc.Collect and report progress monitoring data.Collaborate with other teachers, professional staff and administrators to address instructional and/or classroom issues.Respond to a wide range of inquiries from parents or guardians regarding instruction, learning and student progress.Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students for the purpose of identifying learning issues, and recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to overcome issues and maximize learning.Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships with members of institutions of higher learning and the business community.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Assists in the orientation of new teachers, and provides in-service training in guidance. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.

The Athletics and Transportation Secretary provides clerical and organizational support to the Athletics and Transportation Departments. This position supports daily office operations, maintains accurate records, coordinates communications, and assists with scheduling and data entry. The Secretary serves as a liaison between parents, students, staff, and community members, providing information and facilitating communication in an efficient and professional manner.

Pre-Kindergarten Paraprofessional
- Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives, and to free certified professional employees from non-professional duties such as proctoring study halls to enable them to make a contribution to other aspects of the educational program, such as curriculum development. Qualifications Profile Completion of at least two (2) years of full-time secondary study or possession of an associate's degree or obtain a CDA certificate. In addition, paraprofessional must take a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours specified by PDE of continuous Professional Development each year.
Essential Job Functions
