Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in loading and unloading of pupils on bus.
Maintain order on the bus while enroute to and from school to allow the drive to perform his/her duties with less distractions in a more safe and timely manner.
Consistent enforcement of safety rules and extra attention to maintain proper behavior on the bus.
At times it may be necessary to physically restrain a pupil who is engaged in inappropriate behavior that potentially endangers the safety of that student or others.
Terms of employment – 10 months
Evaluation – Performance of this job will be evaluated with statute, board policy and contract agreement.

Qualifications:
Valid Commercial Driver’s License
Minimum safe driving experience as determined by the board.
Sufficient mechanical aptitude to diagnose minor problems.
Ability to maintain passenger discipline to ensure their safety and well being and protect against vandalism.
Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Required medical information.
Be capable of communicating clearly over two-way radio and with the students on a regular basis and in an emergency.
Be capable of entering and exiting the vehicle via the emergency door.
Exhibit a positive concerned attitude towards fellow employees and students.
Primary Function:
To transport pupils in a safe and efficient manner and perform all activities related to the operation of the school bus.

Job Performance Indicators and Responsibilities:
1. Conducts a pre-trip safety inspection of the bus prior to every trip and completes the mileage reports.
2. Notifies the mechanic of any mechanical malfunctions and the Transportation Supervisor of safety hazards.
3. Adheres to established routes, designated bus stops and keeps to assigned time schedule.
4. Transports only authorized pupils.
5. Obeys all traffic laws and observes mandatory school bus safety regulations.
6. Maintains discipline on the bus and reports violations to the appropriate Administrator and completes required reports.
7. Reports all accidents and pupil injuries immediately to the principal and the Director of Transportation and completes required reports.
8. Participates in emergency evacuation drills in accordance with policy and instructs passengers regarding safety regulations and other bus rules.
9. Performs interior bus cleaning duties daily, cleans the windows and exterior as needed, and refuels the vehicle.
10. Assigns each student a definite seat and provide seating charts as required.
11. Adheres to NJ Administrative Code and regulations adopted by the Hillsborough Board of Education.
12. Is familiar with the laws and regulations pertaining to safe school transportation.
13. Adheres to all driver handbook duties and guidelines.
14. Maintains the video camera on their vehicle as instructed.
15. Attends safety meetings when scheduled.
16. Follows directives from the Director of Transportation.

An employee in this class is employed to provide secretarial and clerical assistance to the principal and his staff. The work of the employee involves the assumption of responsibility in the maintenance of agreed upon records, and the preparation of required reports. Although skilled typing is necessary to the performance of duties, the taking and transcribing of dictation normally is minimal and the requirement of this skill is at the option of the principal. Emphasis of the work is upon relieving the principal of routine clerical tasks and upon maintaining effective public relations with parents, teachers, children and school visitors. Supervisin is received from the principal of the school.

Receives and routes incoming calls and correspondence.
Maintain official records and accurately complete reports from such records.

Complete routine office duties, including the processing and routing of forms and the updating and maintaining of files.

Prepare, transcribe, compose, and copy correspondence at the discretion of the supervisor.
Arrange details of professional conferences, meetings and workshops.
Completes tasks in line with supervisor(s)’ priorities.
