Lifeguard duties at the pool will include:
Enforce all policies, rules, and regulations
Recognize and respond promptly to emergencies
Completes facility records, accident reports, incident reports, and other forms assigned in a timely manner
Protects all property and equipment
Handles cleaning and custodial work in the locker rooms and other areas assigned
Works assigned hours
Performs and completes other related work as assigned
Communicates clearly and uses discipline fairly and consistently
Min. age of 15; Certification in Lifeguard training, CPR for the professional rescuer or equivalent, first aid
Must be able to swim 500 continuous yards using a combination of Breaststroke, Front Crawl and Back Crawl. Retrieve a 10 lb. object from a depth of no less than 8 feet and swim 20 yards holding it in both hands, Tread water for 3 minutes (last two minutes using legs only).
Responsible for teaching students to swim
Teach Water Safety Skills for appropriate level.
Complete all certifications and course record on time.
Be ready to teach for each class on time.
Min. age of 16; Certification as a Water Safety Instructor. Recommended to have Lifeguard training, Current CPR certification for the professional rescuer or equivalent and first aid Reliable, courteous, positive attitude, ready to act, fit and alert, ability to work with children, make decisions quickly, manage crowds and enforce safety procedures, supervision skills

Supervise Children (including those with special needs):
Maintain sight and sound of children at all times under supervision of the Coordinator.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date head counts and lists of children (i.e. arrival & departure times, food counts)
Assist in maintaining ratios and maximum group size as determined by DHS.
Promote positive interactions among the children including, but not limited to, prevention of bullying and fighting, promotion of sharing, cooperative efforts, and productive use of time.
Discipline in accordance of LLLC and DHS Behavior Guidance policies.
Report all discipline problems, injuries and potentially dangerous situations to the Coordinator.
Maintain current and accurate documentation of separations, injuries and incidents and appropriately communicate them to parents.
Maintain close supervision (sometimes one-on-one) of special needs children.
Actively participate with children in daily activities:
Establish, plan and execute daily lesson plans.
Prepare classroom environment into a age appropriate learning environment.
Demonstrate good role model behavior during group times, meals, transitions, and activity clean-up.
Actively participate in all activities, including large motor (gym and playground).
Provide assistance with personal hygiene, independence skills, behavior guidance, appropriate help and interventions as needed for individual children.
Communicate with parents about any special occurrences, including but not limited to, sick children, discipline issues, injuries and incidents.
Provide direction to Aides with activity set-up, clean-up, snack preparation, toy sanitation and other non supervisory duties as assigned.
Responsible for opening and closing procedures on appropriate shifts.
Ensure that parents are involved in the classroom activities throughout the year.
Offer and deliver bi-annual parent/teacher conferences.
Observe and document any behavior or other issues for referral to Special Education.
Carry out emergency procedures.
Working with supervising staff and other Program Assistants:
Attendance is consistent and punctual.
Demonstrate a positive attitude.
Show respect to co-workers.
Know, understand and follow LLLC policies and procedures.
Help with special projects.
Assist with center clean-up at the end of shift.
Work with Coordinator to plan long term program improvements.
Work cooperatively with Special Start teachers and advocates.
Wear clothing according to the dress code.
Show knowledge of where supplies are kept.
Attend staff meetings as requested and participate in staff training as needed.
Follow district confidentiality policies.
Work as a positive team member of LLLC, Community Education and Cloquet School District.
The successful candidate must have a DHS Certification under Rule 3 which includes:
Must be at least 18 years old.
First Aid and CPR certified within 90 days of hire.
DHS Background Study check.
The starting pay for this position is between $16.49 to $21.27 and is based on the School Board approved wage scale. Your initial placement is dependent on your qualifications (education and years of relevant experience).

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment. This position is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
Paraprofessional
Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives, and to free certified professional employees from non-professional duties such as proctoring study halls to enable them to make a contribution to other aspects of the educational program, such as curriculum development. This position is considered non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
