Assignment:

Standard work schedule is 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Minimum pay rate is $27.55

Job Responsibilities: 
1. Works with building leadership and building occupants to handle requests and to perform daily operations.
2. Inspects, monitors, and maintains the facilities heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, security, fire alarm and emergency lighting systems/panels. 
3. Monitors the performance of the custodial staff, provides work direction and training to all custodial staff in the facility, and reviews custodial assignments.
4. Repairs equipment such as desks, chairs, tables, lockers and other school equipment.
5. Performs general maintenance repairs to include: painting, plumbing and equipment repairs. 
6. Coordinates and performs exterior maintenance including lawn mowing, trimming, debris clean up, cleaning exterior windows, walls and ensuring all sidewalks and stairs are free of ice and snow.
7. Cleans, repairs, tests, and operates steam or hot water boilers, water heaters, compressors and other pressure vessels in accordance with Minnesota State Statutes. 
8. Coordinates the receiving and distribution of supplies and equipment within the school.
9. Maintains a positive working environment with all building occupants and coordinate facility use for internal and external customers.
10. Orders and keeps a proper inventory of custodial and maintenance supplies. 

Job Qualifications: 
1. Current experience as a Head Custodian or Developmental Trainee with the District preferred. 
2. High school graduate or equivalent.
3. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
4. Evidence of State of Minnesota 1st Class C Stationary Engineers License OR a minimum of a current Special Engineers License and the willingness to obtain the required 1st class license as soon as permitted by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
5. Evidence of excellent customer service, leadership and interpersonal skills.
6. Technical skills for operations of district programs to assist in the operations of Buildings & Grounds. 
7. Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to organize and maintain records.
8. Demonstrated accurate mathematical skills. 
9. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and orally.
10. Demonstrated ability to effectively successfully complete a pre-placement physical capabilities examination at Concentra at the District's expense.

 Job Responsibilities:
1. Performs routine and project cleaning of assigned classrooms, offices and corridors.  Duties include empty waste receptacle, vacuum and/or sweep floors, empty sharpeners, clean disinfect sinks and fountains, straighten and clean furniture, refinish hard surface floors, carpet extraction, marker and chalk board cleaning.
2. With the direction of the Facilities Manager, coordinate, schedule and give work direction to the custodial staff for the completion of project cleaning and building use.Interacts with building occupants to ensure doors are open, equipment needed is available, and all of their needs for the facility are met.
3. Performs routine and project cleaning of assigned lavatories and locker rooms.  Duties include cleaning and disinfecting lavatory fixtures, sinks, walls, floors, mirrors, and dispensers.  Keeps paper and soap dispensers filled and functioning, empty waste receptacles and insures odor control.
4. Perform minor maintenance duties including but not limited to: cleaning and lubricating univents, changing filters, changing light bulbs and ballasts, adjusting equipment and furniture, small painting projects.
5. Responsible for securing the facility including closing and locking windows, locking doors, insuring security lights are operating, and activating the security alarm.
6. Performs exterior maintenance including lawn mowing, trimming, cleaning exterior windows and walls, and ensuring all sidewalks and stairs are free of ice and snow.
7. Operates a variety of equipment including but not limited to vacuum cleaners, battery operated floor scrubbers, rotary floor machines, carpet extractors, pressure washers, snow blowers, lawn mowers, weed whips, and power brooms.
8. Reports all needed repairs to the building head custodian.
