      Coordinator – Exceptional Education
    DEPARTMENT NAME:   Exceptional Education

    JOB SUMMARY:  Provides technical and instructional support to administrators, teachers, and other school personnel on issues related to exceptional education and services.
    PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:  List, in the order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position.  Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.
    Job Responsibility 1: Provides and models instructional supports for exceptional education teachers and all other school personnel to enhance learning for students with disabilities. Coordinates and/or conducts training for school staff and provides updates on best practices for serving students with disabilities.
    Job Responsibility 2: Assists schools in compliance in accordance with State and Federal laws governing services for students with disabilities.
    Job Responsibility 3: Participates in IEP meetings and manifestation determination meetings.
    Job Responsibility 4: Coordinates the referral, screening, and delivery of services for students with disabilities.
    Job Responsibility 5: Provides assistance with development of behavioral intervention plans.
    Job Responsibility 6: Conducts and facilitates departmental and grade-level meetings to assist with planning and collaboration for instruction and meaningful inclusive service delivery.
    Job Responsibility 7: Conducts professional learning opportunities for schools as well as assist administration in seeking out and securing needed professional development opportunities.
    Job Responsibility 8: Reviews data with administrators and teachers to plan lessons, instruction, and service delivery options, including scheduling.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: “Education Requirements” refers to job specific training and education required for entry into the position.
    Bachelor degree in area of special or general education required.  Master’s degree preferred.
    LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: “Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations” refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position.
    Requires current Tennessee Teachers License.
    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: “Experience Requirements” refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position.
    Three years’ teaching experience required.
