    Description: The district is searching for a new Head Mechanic to provide service to the bus fleet and other district owned vehicles, which results in a reliable and safe transportation program in a fiscally responsible manner.


    Qualifications:  Candidates will have at least three (3) years of successful mechanical experience with a portion of the time in the area of buses or similar vehicles and hold a current, valid CDL (bus driver.) Candidates should also have the ability to work cooperatively with and for others, have effective communication skills, give and accept advice, meet community, district, and BOE standards, be of good moral character as evidenced by the absence of any criminal or unethical convictions or rehabilitation, and possess physical characteristics and demonstrated knowledge needed to adequately service the fleet.


    Working Conditions: Salary, work year, and terms and conditions of employment as determined by the Cardinal Board of Education. The Head Mechanic will put in a minimum eight (8) hour day, five (5) day week.  Working hours will be 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. As a salaried employee of Cardinal Local District, the Head Mechanic does not qualify for overtime provisions with the exception of times the Head Mechanic is called upon to drive a bus route or field trip.  The Head Mechanic will be “on call” for any emergencies that arise concerning any Cardinal transportation vehicle whether on regular, co-curricular or field trip.
