    The Highland Local School District has an opening for one (1) Sharon Elementary School Secretary. The position will be for 207 days per school year, 8 hours per day.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required. Fluency in technology applications such as Microsoft Office, Google word processing and spreadsheet products, web based calendar, PowerSchool and email. Office experience, a strong work ethic, flexibility and a total understanding and acceptance of the rules of confidentiality are necessary to be successful in this position. This person will also need to obtain background checks from the State of Ohio.

    JOB DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Elementary School Principal, the Secretary will organize, coordinate, and perform responsible clerical and secretarial duties specific to his/her job assignment. The person will also conduct the daily and clerical operation of the Elementary School office unit without initial assignment or direction from supervisor.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES:
    • Communicates effectively with students, parents, teachers, district personnel and community members.
    • Multi-tasks in a busy environment and demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
    • Presents a pleasing and friendly personality.
    • Assigns duties to the clerical personnel assigned to unit.
    • Maintains up-to-date pupil records by recording attendance, grades, test scores, etc. in student files.
    • Responsible for student data input for State EMIS system.
    • Answers telephone and meets general public, distributing information needed pertaining to procedures, policies, and activities.
    • Assists in first aid to sick and injured pupils.
    • In the absence of proper administrative personnel, makes decisions in routine matters and checks with Central Office on emergency situations.
    • Processes entrance and withdrawal of students.
    • Process all requisitions and purchase orders. Maintains a record of requisition numbers issued. Enters requisitions into the USAS computer system for all       building/department purchases.
    • Responsible for disbursing funds from petty cash account, reimbursing petty cash account and monthly reconciliation of petty cash bank statement.
    • Responsible for daily collection and receipting of class fees, workbook fees, student activity fees, field trip fees, etc.
    • Responsible for balancing of daily receipts with monies collected for deposit and prepares bank deposit.
    • Processes time slips, absence reports, sick leave forms and other payroll records to the payroll office as needed.
    • Maintains calendar and schedule for use of buildings, facilities (as permits are issued), and activities. Schedules appointments for immediate supervisor.
    • Sorts and distributes incoming mail.

    SALARY: The person selected to fill this position will be placed at the appropriate step of the salary schedule contained in the negotiated agreement between the HSS and the Highland Board of Education.
