Hazel Park is seeking applicants for the position of
Literacy/ Math Coach
, for the 2019/20 school year. The district is served by caring and professional teaching and other staff who provide instruction and support to approximately 3,600 students. The Hazel Park community is proud and supportive of its schools, the staff and student population.
The District Literacy/Math Coach teacher will work with K-12 students who are below grade level in their literacy/ Math skills through instructional, assessment, and/or leadership roles in the classroom.
10-month, Full Time, 1.0 FTE, H.P.E.A. Position
Hazel Park Educational Association (H.P.E.A.) Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Reading Specialist Endorsement (BR K-12) / Math (EX)
Highly Qualified in accordance with No Child Left Behind Guidelines.
Knowledge and/or understanding in consistent use of data to monitor student growth, inform instruction, and develop interventions.
Experience in differentiated instruction, Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports Systems, and individualized programming options for students.
Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum.
Superior communication skills in writing and speaking with all levels of management and staff.
Applicants must be able to show proof of a satisfactory criminal background check as defined by state standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITIES:
Collaborates with teachers in the development of research-based teaching strategies that fosters problem-solving and literacy comprehension for students. Coaches will work collaboratively with the teachers for the purpose of building skills, analyzing data, and providing data-driven instructional practices.
Works with the teacher to determine the instructional needs of students most identified in need of improvement.
Models innovative teaching methodologies and research-based, effective instructional practices through techniques such as co-teaching and demonstration lessons.
Designs tutoring schedule for working with students.
Maintains and submits required documentation, including but not limited to, coaching logs, data analysis for teacher development and calendar reflecting coaching activities and scheduled meetings.
Assists teachers in effective integration of technology within daily instructional practice.
Establishes and maintains a trusting, confidential and non-evaluative relationship with teachers and aligns coaching based on classroom observations.
