Description:  Lifeguard

Job Summary
• Monitor activities in and near the water through patron surveillance.
• Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behavior.
• Enforce facility rules and regulations and educate patrons about them.
• Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
• Administer first aid and CPR, including AED when needed.
• Work as a team with lifeguards, facility staff and management.
Qualifications
• No experience necessary.  Willing to fully train.
• Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills.
• Must possess a current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification, or ability to obtain upon/contingent on hiring.
• Effective group management skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Hourly Wage: $14.00-$15.29

OTHER BENEFITS
Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST)
Pay Differential: $1 for early morning

Description:  Lead Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

Job Summary
• Responsible for planning, coordinating and teaching learn-to-swim and water safety courses for preschool, youth and adults.
• Assist the Aquatics Coordinator in overseeing all aspects of the learn-to-swim program. 
• Provide work direction to Water Safety Instructors and Lifeguards as needed. 
• Monitor and ensure participant safety at all times.
• Create conditions which ensure an enjoyable experience for participants.
• Manage participation through respectful and equitable approaches.
• Work collaboratively with Community Education staff to implement a philosophy that is supportive of participants' development in the swimming skills targeted through the activity.
• Communicate effectively with Aquatics Coordinator regarding program needs and developments

Qualifications
• Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills.
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification preferred. Training can be provided.
• Effective teaching and/or practice management skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in collaboration with others.
• Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.
• Commitment to supporting the whole participant in their pursuit of high levels of mastery of skill within the program.
Bargaining Group and Level: NA

Pay Rate:  $25.00 per hour starting, based on experience.

Work Schedule:  Saturday mornings - Sept-Nov, Jan-March, April-May

Orono Public Schools is seeking degreed professionals and licensed teachers to tutor elementary students in a variety of subjects.  One hour tutoring sessions are offered on-campus during before or after school hours.  This part-time position is a highly rewarding role, focused on providing personalized academic support, building confidence, and fostering a positive attitude toward learning.  

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide focused, individualized instruction and academic support to elementary students across a variety of subjects.

Job Summary:
Are you a recent education graduate, retired educator, or experienced professional with a passion for working with school-age children? Join our team as a Program Staff Lead (Teacher), and play a vital role in creating a fun and enriching before and after school experience for children in Kindergarten - 5th grade. As part of our team, you will plan and implement developmentally and age-appropriate activities, supervise children using effective classroom management techniques, create a warm and welcoming environment for students and families, maintain cleanliness and safety, and set clear rules and expectations within the before and after school program. • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the program, including sanitization and organization of materials and equipment.

Qualifications:

• Highly organized and flexible, able to adapt to varying tasks and responsibilities.
• Experience in child care is appreciated, showcasing your understanding of the needs and interests of school-age children.
• Two years of experience in a related field, such as education or child development, is preferred, demonstrating your academic background and commitment to the field.
• First-aid and CPR certification is preferred, highlighting your commitment to the safety and well-being of children.
• Work experience with school-age children (ages 5-12) is desirable, demonstrating practical skills and knowledge.
• Knowledge of the developmental needs of school-age children, facilitating effective engagement and support.
