    SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
    TITLE/POSITION
     
    RETIREMENT:                          Teacher Retirement System of Georgia
     
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:      190 Days
     
    REPORTS TO:                           Director of Special Education and Principal
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:                   Valid Georgia certification on Speech Pathology.   (NO CONTRACT AGENCIES)
     
    EVALUATION:                          Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy and GaPSC requirements on evaluation.                            
     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
     

     
    • To organize and direct the speech/language program of the school system to include training, scheduling and immediate oversight.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of federal, state and local due process guidelines and requirements.
    • Ensure adherence by staff to all federal, state and local due process guidelines and requirements.
    • Assist in program development for all populations of children with communicatively handicapping conditions.
    • Work with appropriate personnel to develop, implement and monitor programs for communicatively handicapped children.
    • Serve as a contact person to the schools and community in regard to programs for children with communication impairment.
    • Remain abreast of current trends and developments within the fields of education and Speech-Language Pathology.
    • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
    • Review current developments, literature, and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
    • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
    • Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
