    Salary: This is a full time 12 month position at 232 working days. The minimum annual salary is $77,288.00.

    Primary Purpose: Provide consultative and technical work across work groups to facilitate the efficient operation of Strategic Initiatives.


    Education/Certification:
    • Master's degree in related content field (preferred)
    • Bachelor’s degree (required)
    • Current Texas teacher certification (preferred)

    Experience:
    • Extensive experience with project management (required)
    • Leadership/supervisory role at a campus, district, or regional level (required)
    • Experience managing multiple budgets simultaneously (required)
    • Experience working with TEA initiatives/projects (preferred)

    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Knowledge of systemic planning and budgeting strategies and ability to execute those practices
    • Strong background in statewide projects including math initiatives, gifted/talented projects, and related Texas Initiatives
    • Ability to demonstrate skill in leadership practices, operate within a complex initiative, defining and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines
    • Ability to supervise staff and coordinate efforts with internal and external partners
    • Knowledge of current Federal/State mandates and laws
    • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to research in order to anticipate future needs of initiative(s)
    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, direct reports, contractors, ESC staff, and Texas Education Agency (TEA) staff
    • Successful experience writing, obtaining and implementing grants/contracts
    • Skill utilizing connections and strategies to ensure efficient use of resources across work groups
    • Knowledge of trends, processes, and best practices in education
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) (preferred)

    Responsibilities:
    • Provide project management and oversight to coordinate grant requirements, including communication, timelines, reporting, and approval processes
    • Coordinate overlapping activities and timelines across work groups
    • Manage and maintain assigned project budget(s) and submission of all required reports in collaboration with Associate Director(s)
    • Provide technical assistance and up-to-date information regarding developments, initiatives, and priorities at the federal, state, and regional level as related to the priorities of ESC 13 and TEA
    • Oversee multiple large, comprehensive vendor contracts
    • Serve as liaison between ESC, TEA staff, content experts, vendors, advisory groups, and internal and external education stakeholders
    • Provide research and inquiry on industry trends and the appropriate direction for projects as they evolve
    • Coordinate and participate in statewide meetings and conferences
    • Provide supervision to staff including employment recommendations and performance evaluations as needed
    • Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    2. What types of benefits does Region 13 offer? Region 13 employees pay into Teacher Retirement System of Texas (www.trs.texas.gov) and social security. Aetna is our primary healthcare provider and we offer supplemental benefits for vision, dental, etc. We offset the cost of this healthcare with a substantial employer contribution. 
    3. How much time off does Region 13 offer? Region 13 is closed for about 25 days in observance of major holidays. Employees also receive 10 vacation days, 10 personal leave days, and 3 optional holidays. We are a 7am-6pm organization with an 8 hour work day within that timeframe, but we honor a healthy work-life balance. As workload fluctuates, you have the opportunity to take flex and telecommute days to accommodate that balance.
