    Reports To: Associate Director: Special Projects
     
    Salary: This is full-time twelve month position at 232 days within the fiscal year. The annual salary is a minimum of 71,896.
     
    Primary Purpose: Provide oversight and leadership for large OER statewide initiative that includes procuring, editing, and reviewing instructional materials that will reside in the public domain for use by Texas educators

     
    Minimum Certification/Education:
    • Master's degree in related content field (preferred)
    • Bachelor’s degree (required)
    • Current Texas teacher certification (preferred)
     

    Experience:

     
    • Extensive experience with project management (required)
    • Leadership role at a campus, district, or regional level (preferred)
    • Experience with landscape of open education resources (preferred)
     

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

     
    • Comprehensive knowledge of project management with a proven track record of success
    • Comprehensive knowledge of budgeting with a proven track record of fiscal responsibility
    • Ability to supervise staff and coordinate efforts with internal and external partners
    • Ability to supervise multiple teams of contractors including creating workflows, assigning tasks, troubleshooting challenges, and resolving discrepancies
    • Knowledge of research and current trends in curriculum, instruction, and assessment
    • Attention to detail and timeliness of task completion with high quality control, time management and organization skills
    • Ability to oversee production of instructional and informational materials, including integration of technology
    • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to research in order to anticipate future needs of initiative(s)
    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, direct reports, contractors, ESC staff, and Texas Education Agency (TEA) staff
    • Ability to communicate knowledgeably and effectively with OER project director and TEA staff about processes, timelines, and detailed work of contractor teams
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) (preferred)
    • Current knowledge of copyright and intellectual property permissions (preferred)
     
     
     Responsibilities:
    • Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
    • Provide project management and oversight to coordinate grant requirements, including communication, timelines, and approval processes
    • Manage project budget and facilitate submission of all TEA-required project reports in collaboration with Associate Director(s)
    • Negotiate and manage multiple ongoing contracts for the purpose of procuring, editing, and reviewing instructional materials
    • Manage at least three teams of contractors within each content area for procuring, editing, and reviewing instructional materials
    • Facilitate development, production, approval, and distribution of multi-media OER resources
    • Serve as liaison between ESC, TEA staff, content experts, content reviewers, content editors, vendors, and internal and external education stakeholders
    • Provide research and inquiry on industry trends and the appropriate direction for OER project as it evolves
    • Maintain awareness of and provide detailed reporting for all aspects of project, including efforts and timelines, areas of concern, and potential solutions to internal and external stakeholders
    • Supervise program staff as needed
    • Perform other duties as assigned

Region 13 is closed for about 25 days in observance of major holidays. Employees also receive 10 vacation days, 10 personal leave days, and 3 optional holidays. We are a 7am-6pm organization with an 8 hour work day within that timeframe, but we honor a healthy work-life balance. As workload fluctuates, you have the opportunity to take flex and telecommute days to accommodate that balance.
