    Reports To: Open Education Resource Project Director
     
    Salary: This is full-time twelve month position at 232 days within the fiscal year. The annual salary is a minimum of 70,833.
     
    Primary Purpose: Under the supervision of the Open Education Resource Project Director, the Open Education Resource Project Coordinator will manage all processes and supervise multiple contractors for the purpose of procuring, editing, and reviewing instructional materials related to English Language Arts/Reading, Spanish Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and other education fields for the purpose of providing teaching, learning, and research resources that will reside in the public domain for use by Texas educators. The Open Education Resource Project Coordinator will hire and supervise at least three teams of contractors within each content area for procurement, editing, and review of instructional materials.  The Open Education Resource Project Coordinator will also work with the Open Education Resource Program Manager in hiring Reviewers.
     
    Minimum Certification/Education:
    • Current Texas Teacher Certification (required)
    • Bachelor's degree in education (required)
    • Master's degree in curriculum, instruction, and assessment or a related content field (required)
    • Project Management Certification (preferred)
     

    Experience:

     
    • Five years of classroom teaching experience (required)
    • Management experience with request for proposals and managing as well as monitoring contracts, deliverables, timelines and processes (required)
    • Extensive experience hiring and managing numerous contractors (required)
     

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

     
    • Ability to successfully manage a large project with multi-components through to completion
    • Ability to lead the development of multiple, high-performing teams, building the capacity of the Open Education Resource Program manager and educator editor team members to effectively interact with and ensure Texas educators are set up for success in their interaction with the Open Education Resource Program content.
    • Develop and oversee the establishment of goals, objectives, milestones and the overall project planning and tracking related to the development of open education resources
    • Review, revise, and oversee the implementation of the Open Education Resource Program procurement and content creation process, the educator editor process, and the educator reviewers process to ensure there is content quality and evaluation alignment across teams.
    • Design and/or deliver high-quality trainings and presentations related to Open Education Resource Program editing and review processes, ranging from presentations on intervention requirements to training on best practices in curricular resource creation.
    • Knowledge of the major content areas of English Language Arts/Reading, Spanish Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, specifically the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
    • Comprehensive knowledge of budgeting with a proven track record of fiscal responsibility
    • Current knowledge of copyright and intellectual property permissions
    • Ability to supervise multiple teams of contractors including creating workflows, assigning tasks, troubleshooting challenges, and resolving discrepancies
    • Ability to supervise staff including administrative support
    • Ability to collaborate with ESC staff and TEA and communicate knowledgeably and regularly with TEA staff about processes, timelines, and the detailed work of contractor teams
    • Ability to work productively in a virtual environment with great reliance email and phone as primary forms of communication with contractor teams
    • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, respectfully, and inclusively with contractors, ESC staff, and Texas Education Agency (TEA)
    • Ability to communicate progress regarding development efforts including timelines, areas of concern, and potential solutions to the OER Project Director
    • Ability to provide detailed, constructive feedback with explanation
    • Ability to communicate knowledgeably and regularly with TEA staff about processes, timelines, and the detailed work of contractor teams
    • Strong command of the English language including conventions of grammar and mechanic
    • Ability to operate in Microsoft Office Suite (required)
     
     
     Responsibilities:
    • Will work directly with the Director of the Project, Program Manager, Budget Manager, Program Assistant and other Team members
    • Will be familiar with the Request For Proposals (RFP) and support the project
    • Will manage all processes and supervise multiple contractors for the purpose of procuring, editing, and reviewing instructional materials
    • Will hire editors and reviewers for the project with the help other Content Experts and others
    • Will help facilitate the over all project asset for the TEA
    • Maintain internal file management system for the retention and development of the project
    • Monitor the budget
    • Collaborate with the Director in developing a system of checks and balances for the project
    • Communicate progress regarding efforts and timelines, areas of concern, and potential solutions to the Director
    • Other duties as assigned

As workload fluctuates, you have the opportunity to take flex and telecommute days to accommodate that balance.
