    Fredericksburg High School is on a traditional 8 period schedule.  FHS has an enrollment of 980 students.

    Certification-Any vocational or career and technical education (CTE) classroom Texas teaching certificate.
    See 19 TAC §233.13 and §233.14 for examples of current CTE certificates.
    A standard Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 6-12 certificate shall be based on academic preparation and experience in the skill areas to be taught and completion of specified pedagogy and professional responsibilities training.

    (1) The standard Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 6-12 certificate shall require the following academic preparation and wage-earning experience.

     

    (A) Option I. An individual must:

     

    (i) hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education that at the time was accredited or otherwise approved by an accrediting organization recognized by the THECB; and

     

    (ii) have two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in one or more approved occupations for which instruction is offered. The experience must be approved by the certification officer of an EPP approved to prepare teachers for the Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 6-12 certificate. Up to 18 months of the wage-earning experience can be met through a formal documented internship.

     

    (B) Option II. An individual must:

     

    (i) hold an associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education that at the time was accredited or otherwise approved by an accrediting organization recognized by the THECB; and

     

    (ii) have two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in one or more approved occupations for which instruction is offered. The experience must be approved by the certification officer of an EPP approved to prepare teachers for the Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 6-12 certificate.

     

    (C) Option III. An individual must:

     

    (i) hold a high school diploma or the equivalent; and

     

    (ii) have five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in one or more approved occupations for which instruction is offered. The experience must be approved by the certification officer of an EPP approved to prepare teachers for the Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 6-12 certificate.


    Fredericksburg High School is seeking an Introduction to Trade Skills Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Teacher will be teaching Introduction to Trade Skills with emphasis in automotive, construction, and welding. This will be a yearlong course that will replace the other intro classes to allow students to have a better understating and grasp of all three areas. The goal is for these students to be able to walk into any of three intermediate classes and begin immediately.
     
    • Basic requirements
      • Have knowledge in automotive, welding, and construction
      • Be able to teach OSHA general industry 10
      • Be able to teach career pathways and basic soft skills
      • Introduce trade skill organizations i.e. Skills U.S.A. and FFA
      • Knowledgeable in reading/teaching blueprints
      • Be able to teach basic math skills i.e. add and subtract fractions
    • Automotive
      • Basics of automotive safety
      • Automotive tool id
      • Oil changes
      • Balance and rotate tires
    • Welding/Ag mechanics
      • Basic welding shop safety
      • Oxy-acetylene cutting
      • knowledge in SMAW
    • Construction
      • Basic construction safety
      • Tool id
      • How to use basic tools
      • Proficient at using a tape measure

    You will need to complete mandated TEA training for all school employees provided by FISD.

    Stipend of $4,750 for CTE, DC-IBC, and club sponsorship. (Total is $5,500 but Fall semester is about completed)

    This position is for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

    You can earn up to 2.5 local and 2.5 state days.

    FISD pays $235 a month towards TRS Health Insurance.

    You will need to complete mandated TEA training for all school employees provided by FISD.
