This is a full-time position, paid on the Certified (Teacher) salary schedule, and is a State of Colorado position with full state benefits. Halftime Secondary ELD Coach/Halftime Co-Teacher - Basalt Middle School (to start August, 2020 for SY 2020-21).
The ELD Coach/Coteacher roles and responsibilities include:
Coaching regular classroom teachers to positively impact content area instruction for emerging bilingual students.
CoPlan and CoTeach in content classes as assigned and as needs arise
Resource provider, data coach, ELD specialist, mentor, facilitator and catalyst for change
Attend CLDE Leadership meetings and support the District CLDE Department regularly
Adhere to the policies and procedures established by Roaring Fork Schools for high quality CLDE programming and instruction
Understand the WIDA Standards Framework and make content comprehensible for all language proficiency levels
The ELD Coach follows policies and procedures for determining ELD program eligibility, re-designation, monitoring and exiting
Work collaboratively with the CLDE team to provide professional development, plan for, and advocate for emerging bilingual students' needs

An endorsement in Secondary Science or K-6 Elementary is acceptable, as this positions teaches 6th Grade Science. Pay is commensurate with education and teaching experience.

Candidates must have a have a firm grasp of standards-based instruction and backward design principles with the skills to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students. He/she should be able to employ strategies that make science accessible, engaging, and challenging.
In addition to Special Education, this teacher will be a crew leader for a group of students over the course of the year. As crew leader the teacher serves as a student advocate, acts as the primary contact point between parents and the school, creates meaningful relationships and experiences, and monitors and supports student progress both academically and socially through engaging activities and lessons that promote strong character skills.
