Job Summary:

Qualifications:
Candidates must hold or be eligible to hold Illinois Professional Licensure and be certified to work with special education students.

Working Conditions: River Grove School District 85.5 is a Pre-K through eighth-grade district serving the students and families of River Grove, IL. The District consists of one PreK-8 building and District Offices located at 2650 Thatcher Avenue. RGS offers a supportive work environment and a comprehensive benefits package.

Salary:
Commensurate with experience
BA 1 = $55,500 
MA1 = $59,500

River Grove School is seeking a certified teacher or qualified substitute to fill a long term leave for the 2025-2026 school year. An LBS1 endorsement preferred, but not required for the right candidate. 

Role qualifications:
Must hold a current Illinois Substitute Teaching License (SUB) and/or Professional Educator License (PEL) 
 
Position responsibilities:
Instructs assigned classes using district curriculum, as provided
Assesses the learning of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
Attends staff meetings 
Performs any other related duties as requested by building administration
Adheres to the published policies and procedures of the District
 

Essential skills and experience:
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental level and interest of the students.
Prepares for classes assigned 
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicates these goals and objectives to students and parents.
Utilizes best practices with an emphasis on student engagement and cooperative learning techniques to enhance instruction.
Provides instruction that supports the District's philosophy of education.
Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and technology 
Initiates contact with parents when necessary and responds promptly, constructively and professionally to parent-initiated contact/concerns.
Establishes a set of classroom behavioral expectations based on clearly defined goals or principles.
Is consistent and fair
 

The long term substitute rate for coverage of a leave of absence is $160 per day for the first 20 days.  Beginning on the 21st day the rate is $308.33 for the remainder of the leave of absence.

River Grove School District is a Pre-K - 8th Grade school in the suburbs of west Cook County.  We are looking for day to day Substitute Teachers for the 2025-2026 school year.

Pay is $160.00 for a full day, and $80.00 for 1/2 Day.
