Department Chairperson Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (PDHH)
The PDHH Coordinator benefits from regular and ongoing support from a teacher leader who can help assess and communicate team needs to the program coordinator and other SOESD staff to ensure that work across the program is carried out effectively and efficiently.
The Department Chair should have a strong understanding of Deaf Education pedagogy and linguistic and cultural best practices. This individual should also demonstrate strong expertise in the development and implementation of IEPs for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
The Department Chair serves as a resource to the PDHH team and supports the onboarding of new teachers through mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance. This role also helps foster collaboration within the team by serving as an approachable and trusted colleague, someone teachers naturally turn to for support, problem-solving, and professional reflection.
The Department Chair may also assist the program coordinator with caseload and referral management, as well as coordinating or organizing staff development opportunities for the PDHH team.

Teacher, Visually Impaired
Southern Oregon Education Service District has a position opening for an Itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI). This is an opportunity to join a passionate and professional group of Teachers of the Visually Impaired that serve all identified students, aged birth – 21, who are blind or low vision, and live in the Southern Oregon area. As an itinerant teacher, you have the opportunity to help design and provide educational support services to students living and learning in their home communities. Teacher of the Visually Impaired
POSITION GOAL: Provide instruction and related services for visually impaired children in their homes, in local schools and within the community.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Know and understand the objectives of the regional program, its activities, and evaluation process.2. Secure needed compliance forms and medical data on assigned students.3. Assess students' needs using pre and post tests.4. Confer with parents and professionals to meet student needs.5. Southern Oregon Education Service District's Special Education Program is looking to hire a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who wants to work with a supportive multidisciplinary team (Autism consultants, school psychologists, life skill classroom teachers, etc.) assigned to serve students in SOESD's special programs and component school districts. Long Term Care and Treatment (LTCT) provides educational programs for students who have been placed by state agencies, school districts, or private placement in day and residential treatment facilities. The students served by these programs have a variety of mental health and educational needs. The SOESD partners with a mental health organization to provide a high-quality, therapeutic environment where children will gain the social-emotional skills and abilities to function successfully in a non-institutional environment. Southern Oregon ESD is seeking a Low Voltage Technician Apprentice who is able to perform journeyperson-level skilled electrical work in repair, alteration, construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment; and perform related duties as assigned by the Electrical Supervisor. Duties include installation, maintenance, and repair of extended branch circuits, audiovisual equipment, and intercom systems, network cabling, security cameras, and other electrical and limited energy systems and equipment. POSITION GOAL: The Limited Energy Technician Apprentice is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of low-voltage systems and infrastructure. This includes voice/data cabling, surveillance, fire alarm, and security systems, intercom, audio/visual, and other limited energy systems. The technician ensures all work is completed in compliance with Oregon codes and safety regulations and supports a safe learning environment for students and staff.
Essential Duties:
1. Install, maintain, and repair various low-voltage systems, including LAN, PA, CCTV, CATV, intercom, A/V systems, wireless access points, fire and security alarms, fiber, and classroom technologies. 2. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals to perform skilled installations and repairs in accordance with applicable codes. 3. Conduct diagnostic testing, perform system checks, and troubleshoot limited energy equipment to ensure reliable operation. 4. Collaborate with staff, contractors, and other trades during construction, renovation, or system upgrades to coordinate low-voltage service needs. 5. Must be enrolled and actively completing coursework related to the LEA licensing program or hold a Valid Oregon Limited Energy-A (LEA) or Limited Energy-B (LEB) license, Oregon Limited Energy Limited Journeyman, or equivalent. 4. Minimum five (5) years of experience in the installation and repair of low-voltage systems. 5. Knowledge of applicable Oregon Building Codes, National Electrical Code, and safety practices. 6. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and perform accurate installations to specification. 7. Skilled in using testing tools, repair equipment, ladders, lifts, and computers. 8. Proficient in the use of productivity software and internet-based research to support field service documentation and solutions. 9. Ability to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions, and maintain positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders. 10.
