This is a full-time, 12-month position, and reports to the Superintendent. The selected candidate will serve a one (1) year probationary period. The annual salary range for this position is $130,000-$142,000, based on experience, and includes excellent benefits.

Job Summary

The Director of Technology is responsible for setting vision in alignment with the district’s strategic plan, providing leadership and leading continuous improvement of technology services to ensure the department plays an integral role in the learning and development of all students. The Director of Technology has primary responsibility for the direction of the district’s technology and information systems vision, strategies, resources, and infrastructure to support operation and instructional goals. Director of Technology ensures the efficient integration of data services, work flows, and operation of proprietary systems to support organizational effectiveness for student achievement.

Predominate Job Functions
• Serves on the executive leadership team and is a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet to develop and drive district mission, vision, and goals.
• Creates a vision for the Learning Technology department in alignment with the District's strategic plan.
• Collaborates with instructional and operational teams to identify steps needed to transform the technology vision into a long-range plan, with specific goals, objectives, measurements and action plans.
• Ensures a comprehensive, effective and efficient technology program that serves the operational and educational needs of the district. 
• Forecast, plan, and manage multi-year budgets to support the District's Learning Technology plan.
• Evaluates emerging technologies and their potential impact on the learning environment and current educational goals.
• Facilitates district progress by developing and deploying data tools to support data informed decision-making processes.
• Design, monitor and evaluate the district’s educational technology plan; ensure compliance with Minnesota Department of Education guidelines.
• Communicates goals, progress, and obstacles as necessary at all levels within the district to support shared understanding of the learning technology roadmap.
• Facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all stakeholders.
• Collaborates with various district departments in implementing, maintaining, and supporting programs and servers including email, human resources, and finance programs, building servers and switches/routers, wireless network, mobile device management, internet filtering, and the student information system.
• Oversees the maintenance, use, development, and direction of the district's student information system, assessment systems, data & analytic systems, professional development systems, and curricular systems.
• Ensures the cohesive integrity of the Learning Technology ethos around system compatibility, integration, authentication, supportability, and usability.
• Develops an integrated systems approach for learning technology systems that highly support the teaching process, learning process, and communications related to classroom management and parent involvement.
• Designs, develops and implements a data analysis process around student outcomes, and facilitates the sharing of this information with teachers, administrators, the community, and the school board where applicable to drive changes that will improve student outcomes.
• Works across departments to align the needs of classrooms, curriculum and instruction departments, and technology to ensure technology fully supports expected learning outcomes.
• Ensures the reliability of the District's learning systems within and outside of the immediate classroom or school environment.
• Ensures all staff and students have the required access to educational resources as supported through technology. Support instructional initiatives to improve student learning by leveraging technology tools and resources.
• Oversees the maintenance, use, development, and direction of the district's cloud services, servers, network systems, and communication platforms.
• Plans, develops, and monitors the District's local and wide area networks for reliable and secure function.
• Oversee and direct the management of server licensing, hardware maintenance, systems design, and deployment; ensure reliable and secure operations.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM discipline) preferred, would also a two-year college or technical school degree/certificate with extensive IT background and leadership experience within public school systems.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certification preferred.
• Classroom teaching and instructional design experience preferred.

Job Summary
 
Provide district-wide leadership for K-12 curriculum and instruction, with a focus on literacy through designing, facilitating, and evaluating standards-based professional learning, and implementation of research-based  instruction and assessment practices and high-quality curriculum materials within a tiered system of supports to improve student outcomes and reduce/eliminate opportunity and achievement gaps.
 
Job Functions
 
• Develops, executes, and directs all aspects of the K-12 literacy framework across all content areas and programs.

• Lead the advancement of scientifically based reading instruction throughout all schools and grade levels

• Update, maintain, and ensure implementation of the Local Literacy Plan and complete requirements associated with state statutes pertaining to reading (i.e., Read Well by 3rd Grade)

• Serve as a leader for scientifically based reading instructional strategies and content-area pedagogy, as well as curricular design that delivers the classroom theory of action and desired daily experiences for staff, students, and families

• Supports the curriculum review and evaluation process for all aspects of literacy across content areas with alignment to state academic standards. Assist in the selection and design of instruments and procedures for curricular materials, best practice instructional strategies and assessment tools.

• Provides leadership in the identification, implementation and evaluation of instructional practices, delivery models, resources and assessments.

• Provide resources, guidance, and support for differentiated instruction, intervention and extensions to meet the needs of all learners. 

• Develops, coordinates, leads and delivers professional development for teachers, principals and other school and district staff.

• Serves as a resource for principals, leadership teams and PLCs to support building level instructional practices, initiatives and systems. Work with the school leaders to create a school-wide focus on goals for academic achievement. 

• Collaborate with school and district leaders of academic and student support to implement and monitor a tiered system of supports that provides effective tier 1 curriculum, assessment, and instruction, and targeted interventions for students who demonstrate a need for accelerated growth in academic development; Ensures alignment of literacy practices to the SSPPS MTSS framework.

• Address barriers to student learning through data analysis, critical thinking, and the use of group processing skills that are student-centered, restorative, solution-based, and culturally responsive.

• Assist staff in implementing culturally relevant instructional strategies in order to address the needs of all students.

• Promote integration of technology as a tool for improving student engagement and achievement.

• Apply for and oversee literacy grants that support and advance the local literacy framework.

• Build change readiness and change management for site and district learning and adaptive work.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 
• Current MN Teaching License.

• Prefer K-12 reading License, or MN teaching license with reading endorsement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•          Has a thorough knowledge of all the policies approved by the South St. Paul Board of Education and is responsible for its implementation by the entire staff of the sport/activity program.
•         Has knowledge of the existing system, state and league regulations; implements some consistently.
•         Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all student and parent requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
•         Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school activity program.
 
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
•         Assists the head coach in scheduling and help in arranging transportation to away events.
•         Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times. Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees.
•         Provides documentation to the Activities Director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
•         Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
 
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
•         Provides training rules and any other unique regulations to each student participant.
•         By his/her presence at all practices, games and while traveling, provides assistance and guidance to and safeguards for each participant.
•         Directs student managers and statisticians on respective teams.
•         Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary. Contacts the parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
 
EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES:
•         Is accountable to the head coach for all equipment. Collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned. Arranges for issuing and storing of equipment and submits to the head coach an annual inventory and current records concerning same.
•         Recommends to the head coach budgetary items for next year in his area of the program.
•         Monitors equipment rooms, coaches' offices and authorizes who may enter.
•         Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
•         Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.
•         Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty.
•         Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use. 
  
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
•         Assists the head coach in carrying out his responsibilities.
•         Makes press releases and school announcements.
•         Instructs team members as to changes in the rules and teaches the fundamentals of the sport as outlined by the head coach.

•         Attends all staff meetings and carries out scouting assignments as outlined by the head coach.

•         Helps in the planning and implementation of both in-season and out-of-season conditioning and weight programs.
•         Never criticizes, admonishes or argues with any staff member within ears or eyes of players or parents.
•         Strives to improve skills by attending clinics and using resources made available by the Activities Director and head coach.

JOB GOAL:  Carry out the objectives of the program as outlined by the Activities Director.  To instruct student participants in individual and team fundamentals, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
               
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Instruct students in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to achieve a degree of individual and team success.  At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence.
• Responsible for all matters pertaining to the organization, administration and coaching program. Enforce all rules of the Classic Suburban Conference, the Minnesota State High School League and National Federation as they pertain to softball.
• A completed and signed parental permission form and physical examination card shall be in the hands of the coach or Activities Office prior to an athlete beginning practice. Assure that players and coaches under his/her jurisdiction understand the training rule policy. These forms are to be returned to the Activities Director promptly.
• Cooperate with the administration, Activities Director, fellow coaches and students to promote the best interests of the entire activities program.
• Work with the Activities Director in the appointment and dismissal of assistant coaches in grades 7 - 12.
• Schedule meetings to coordinate coaching methods at different levels; helps in assisting the Activities Director in assigning duties to all assistant coaches; and assists the Activities Director in determining the success of the lower level programs.
• Conform to activities department policy in ordering equipment and supplies for the sport involved.
• See that all candidates for a team have had a physical examination and have returned the physical examination/parental consent form before the first practice session.
• Prepare a roster of all team members. Have participants fill out the athletic eligibility form from which the master eligibility list will be compiled. Both should be in the Activities Office and principal's office one week prior to the first game.
• Assume responsibility for conduct of contestants in sport involved.
• Accompany and supervise the team to and from all contests.
• Plan and supervise all practice sessions. Suggested length is not more than two and a half hours.
• Work with trainer-equipment manager in selecting reliable student managers and student trainers; assign their duties and supervise their work.
• Conform to activities policy to assure that students are not given keys and access cards to enter buildings when the coach is not present.
• Conform to school policies in handling injuries; report all serious injuries immediately to the Activities Director.
• Attend scheduled school meetings unless excused. During sports season, coaches should check with principal or department chairperson as to what transpired at a meeting that the coach was unable to attend.
• Turn in a complete inventory of all equipment to the Activities Director at the conclusion of the season.
• Complete and return a Coaches Annual Report form to the Activities Director within two weeks after the last contest.
• Complete and return a supplemental pay voucher to the Activities Director after all responsibilities have been fulfilled.
• Complete all requirements mandated by State and National agencies.
• The success of activity programs has a strong influence on the community’s image of the entire system.  The public exposure is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and good mental health.
• The position includes other unusual aspects such as extended time, risk injury factor and due process predicaments.
• It is the express intent of these duties and responsibilities to give sufficient guidance to function.  In cases not specifically covered, it shall be assumed that a coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment.
• Has a thorough knowledge of all the policies approved by the South St. Paul Board of Education and is responsible for its implementation by the entire staff of the sport/activity program.

JOB GOAL:      Carry out the objectives of the program as outlined by the Activities Director, in conjunction with the Head Coach. To instruct student participants in individual and team fundamentals, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.

•         Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school activity program.
 
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
•         Assists the head coach in scheduling and help in arranging transportation to away events.
•         Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times. Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees.
•         Provides documentation to the Activities Director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
•         Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
 
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
•         Provides training rules and any other unique regulations to each student participant.
•         By his/her presence at all practices, games and while traveling, provides assistance and guidance to and safeguards for each participant.
•         Directs student managers and statisticians on respective teams.
•         Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary. Contacts the parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
 
EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES:
•         Is accountable to the head coach for all equipment. Collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned. Arranges for issuing and storing of equipment and submits to the head coach an annual inventory and current records concerning same.
•         Recommends to the head coach budgetary items for next year in his area of the program.
•         Monitors equipment rooms, coaches' offices and authorizes who may enter.
•         Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
•         Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.
•         Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty.
•         Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.

•         Never criticizes, admonishes or argues with any staff member within ears or eyes of players or parents.
•         Strives to improve skills by attending clinics and using resources made available by the Activities Director and head coach.
•         Attends most of the contests, when possible, of other teams in the program.

Job Summary
To assist students, parents/guardians and staff with methods and resources that effectively address issues of achievement, social emotional adjustment and attendance in the school setting. 
To increase student engagement and success through student support and supervision, attendance, discipline and collaboration with staff, students, families and community. 
To assist the school administration and student support staff in the areas of student support, including building supervision.   

Job Functions
• Implement or assist in implementing a safe school climate that results in academic and personal success for each student.
• Intervenes in problematic student behaviors at the earliest stages possible and contributes to the District’s development of proactive preventative strategies intended to help address and alleviate such behaviors. 
• Establishes, facilitates and/or delivers social work services for students and their families who are experiencing social/emotional/behavioral challenges, attendance issues, homelessness and/or resource disparities. 
• Assists in developing and coordinating the student attendance operation to ensure staff compliance and family/student support. As needed, work with the students/parents and staff to correct student attendance and/or behavioral problems both within and outside of school. 
• Assist with accessing outside resources needed to help students become personally and academically successful. 
• Assist with the consultation of teachers as it relates to student behavior concerns. 
• Develops positive and collaborative working relationships with parents and caregivers to encourage parent-teacher-administrator communication
• Ensures compliance and accurate documentation of social work case notes, homeless and highly mobile forms, attendance letters, and Dakota County truancy and child protection reporting. 
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation in student information system 
• Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
• Support the district’s mission, vision and values.
• Provide guidance to help students cope effectively to personal, social, academic, and family concerns.
• Support the total need of each student (educational, personal and social), encourage maximum growth and development.
• Design and lead professional development for staff 
• Attend student, staff and parent meetings as deemed appropriate.
• Assist in implementing on-site crisis intervention/management plans.
• Consult and collaborate effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs.
• Ensures alignment of practice decisions with District policies so that work responsibilities can be performed purposefully, confidently and independently.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Job Summary
Provide specialized instruction, modifications and accommodations to students with disabilities.  Follow all due process requirements under the Individual with Disabilities Education Act and Every School Succeeds Act. Work collaboratively with building staff.  Provide direction to Paraprofessionals on day-to-day activities for student achievement.  Participate in IEP meetings and facilitate communication between staff and families if necessary.
 
Job Functions
• Provide assistance and leadership in completing Functional Behavior Assessments as determined by the IEP team.
• Consult with other educators, staff and parents in developing specialized educational programs for students.
• Consult with other educators, staff and parents in the management and data collection around results of specialized programs.
• Assist in making changes and adjustments to instructional techniques and accommodations and modifications for students.
• Participate with families at school conferences and IEP meetings with parents when needed.
• Communicate with appropriate teachers and other district staff personnel as necessary on educational matters.
• Promote family attendance and involvement in school conferences and events.
• Provide education to families as requested by the principal, teacher, or district staff.
• Promote full consideration of individual needs of learners with disabilities in the academic environment.
• Deliver the district’s written, taught and assessed curriculum.
• Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
• Support the district’s mission, vision and values.
• Maintain knowledge and skills within IB program changes and updates.
• Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, staff, families and community members.
• Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.
• Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.  
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Current Minnesota Teacher licensure in Special Education. 
• Excellent communication skills with families, students and staff.
• Knowledge and experience with International Baccalaureate Program.

• Desire to provide assistance and advocacy to families and children with disabilities. 
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel.
• Knowledge of and understanding for the legal and ethical requirement to keep information about students and families confidential.
• Willing to learn the specifics of South St. Paul educational philosophy and goals for students, including IB structures and techniques.
• Excellent teaching skills.
• Excellent technology skills.
• Commitment to working effectively with culturally, economically and socially diverse students and families.
• Ability to understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students
