Terms of Employment: 180 student scheduled days (prorated for remaining student days) Richardson Elementary, Fort Madison, IA
Hours: Full Time 7 hours

Minimum of high school diploma
Prefer some post-secondary work OR paraeducator certification through Iowa Board of Educational Examiners
Must be willing to participate in additional training in supporting the needs of hearing impaired students (district paid)
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities.
Carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students.
Understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Gmail, Google docs)
Assist with toileting, dressing, and basic safety rules, as needed
Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
Attend work regularly and promptly
Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
Assist with accurate data collection.
Commit to ongoing professional growth to support the unique needs of individual students.
Utilize effective writing and verbal communication skills.
