Essential Job Functions:
Implement Individual Behavioral Intervention Plans Support and Implement building/classroom management systems; utilize verbal de-escalation skills and strategies; assist students in developing appropriate classroom behavior skills; maintain appropriate records and documentation.
High school diploma or GED NCLB compliance – 60 college credit hours, associate’s degree, generalist or specialist para educator license issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners OR successful completion of the district-approved competency test; experience working with applicable age students who have behavior challenges; experience working with students with special needs; de-escalation experience; successful experience working in an intervention setting as well as the classroom; flexibility and the ability to work with a diverse group of students; excellent record of attendance; model appropriate and respectful behavior.

High School Diploma, GED, or Proficiency Certificate for Teacher Associates CPI trained (must be willing to obtain certification); successful working experience with students who have significant behavior problems; flexibility and the ability to work with a variety of staff members; excellent record of attendance; certified in Mandt or CPI or be willing to get the training; familiar with Positive Behavior Supports; model appropriate and respectful behavior.
