CERTIFIED OPPORTUNITY FOR 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR:
Beginning January 15, 2018
Certified Teacher for Independent K-6 Special Education Behavior Disorder Classroom
ACES (Academic Center for Education Success) students are Special Education Behavior Disordered students who have struggled with success in a less restrictive setting. Many students have diagnoses which might be manifested in a variety of ways including withdrawal, depression, anxiety, school avoidance, aggressive behavior and/or acting out behaviors etc. that are disruptive to the general education learning environment. Students may have a typical social and physical presentation with low average to high ability. These students need a small structured setting with high staff to student ratio to address academic, social emotional, and mental health needs. As the student progresses, driven by the IEP Team review and update of the IEP, the student may be integrated back into the general education setting as deemed appropriate by the IEP Team.
The Boone Community School District is looking for highly motivated teaching professionals to apply for this vacancy. Applicants must be properly certified in the State of Iowa for this position, or able to obtain such certification or provisional certification by the position start date.
The ideal applicant will be a subject matter expert in the teaching area, proficient in the use of student achievement data to guide instruction, able to openly and honestly collaborate with peers, able to use technology to present high quality student instruction, and committed to maximizing the learning potential of all students.
The Boone Community School District is an EEO/AA employer.
