Early Head Start Bilingual Assistant Teachers – Marshalltown
Join our Early Head Start teaching team and use your bilingual skills (English/Spanish) to make a difference in lives of children ages 6 weeks to 3 years. Engage in positive caregiving routines with children. Conduct screenings and assessment with children. We provide an excellent benefit package and ongoing training opportunities, including assistance in completing a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential during work hours.
Two full-time, 12-month positions available. One position is in the infant room (ages 6 weeks to 18 months) and one position is in the toddler room (ages 18 months to 3 years). $11.47 to $12.48 per hour commensurate with education.
High school diploma or GED/HiSET
Ability to read, write and speak the English language; able to speak Spanish language
Demonstrated level of proficiency in reading, writing and speaking the English language and Spanish language in order to provide oral interpretation
Demonstrated level of proficiency in reading, writing and speaking the English language and Spanish language in order to provide written translation
Previous interpreting/translating experience
Preference given to candidates with the following:
Applicants who have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential appropriate for the age group with which they will be working,
Applicants enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education
Experience working with children 0-3 years of age (will accept experience with children 0-5)

Early Head Start Lead Teacher – Marshalltown, IA
If you are passionate about toddlers, this may be the position for you! A student to teacher ratio of 4 to 1 will allow you to have a real impact on children ages 18 months to 3 years. Help children gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed at home, school and the community. Promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of children. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program.
Full-time, 12 month position. Excellent benefit package and ongoing professional development. $13.80 to 19.36 per hour, commensurate with education.
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (classified as Early Head Start Non-Supervising Lead Teacher 3). Preference given to candidates with experience teaching preschool-age children.
Bachelor’s Degree in Education with an Early Childhood Education Endorsement (classified as Early Head Start Non-Supervising Lead Teacher 3). Preference given to candidates with experience teaching preschool-age children.
Bachelor's or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education (such as the Child, Adult and Family Services Degree with Child Option at Iowa State University), with experience teaching preschool-age children (classified as Early Head Start Non-Supervising Lead Teacher 2).
Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (classified as Early Head Start Non-Supervising Lead Teacher 1) with infant, toddler, or pre-school teaching experience. Preference given to candidates with infant or toddler teaching experience.

One on One Preschool Special Education Associate 7:45am - 3:15pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school graduate

REPORTS TO: Supervising Teacher and Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher to achieve teaching objectives by working with an individual student to help him/her achieve IEP goals.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Works with an individual student to reinforce learning of content or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
2. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing content or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of the individual student, his/her needs, interests and abilities.
3. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
4. Helps the student master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher.
5. Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
6. Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
7. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, field trips and escorts students around the building.
8. Keeps bulletin board and other classroom learning displays up to date.
9. Reads to student, listens to the student read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with student.
10. Assists the student in the library or media center and lunch room.
11. Checks the student’s notebook, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make up work, as assigned by the teacher.
12. Checks and records the student’s attendance and other charting duties as requested by the teacher.
13. Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about the individual student.
14. Serves as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
15. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
16. Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned.
17. Performs other duties related to the assigned student, as requested by the supervising teacher.
SEVERE AND PROFOUND SPECIAL DUTIES:
S & P 1. Helps the student with clothing.
S & P 2. Assists/supervises the student in an integrated setting.
S & P 3. Assists/supervises peer helper(s) in actively working with the student.
S & P 4. Assists with lunch, snack and cleanup routines.
S & P 5. Assists with wash-up and toilet routines (change diapers).
S & P 6. Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits to be determined by the Master Contract for Support Services Personnel.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the supervising teacher in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
