As a Top 20 school, Rock Valley Community School is seeking a highly motivated candidate to teach High School Business/Middle School exploratory computers. The instructor will teach General Business, Accounting 1 and 2, Web 2.0/3.0, Financial Literacy, and Middle School Computer Exploratory classes. We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher that works well with others, is competent with the use of technology and motivated to be a life-long learner.
Starting in the 2018-2019 school year, the business teacher and students will work with our Rocket Manufacturing program. Rocket Manufacturing is an award-winning student-run manufacturing business taught through our agriculture and industrial technology programs. The General Business class will work closely with shop management assisting in the business operations of the program. This is a unique opportunity to work with a one-of-a-kind program in the state of Iowa, not only teaching business classes, but providing real-world application of business skills and practices such as accounting, marketing, and invoicing and billing.
Rock Valley Community Schools is located in Northwest Iowa. Rock Valley is one of the fastest growing rural communities in Iowa with a population of 3,500. The district has increased an average of 25 students (certified enrollment) every year for over ten years with an enrollment of 900 students. In addition to state-required mentoring, teachers new to the district have district-created mentoring to enhance the mentor/mentee relationship and build their instructional capacity. Three full-time instructional coaches serve as an additional resource to the entire teaching staff. All students in grades 1-12 have their own computing device provided by the district.
