    QUALIFICATIONS:                1.   Meet certification requirements of the

     

                                                          Department of Education, State of Iowa in K-12 PE and 5-12 Heath. 
                                                    2.   Such alternatives to the above qualifications

     

                                                          as the Board may find appropriate and

     

                                                          acceptable.
    Preferred Qualifications: 
    1.  Current or recent experience working with and understanding of middle level students.
    2.  Able to demonstrate experience with a variety of methods to educate middle school students with healthy habits and activities.

     
    REPORTS TO:                            Principal
     
    SUPERVISES:                            Teacher Associates and Volunteers as assigned.
     
    JOB GOAL:                                To help students achieve skills that will contribute

     

                                                     to their development as productive and

     

                                                     responsible citizens.
     
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
     
          1.   Demonstrates ability to enhance academic performance.
     
          2.   Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position.
     
          3.   Demonstrates competence in planning and preparing for instruction.
     
          4.   Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.
     
          5.   Uses a variety of methods to monitor student learning.
     
          6.   Demonstrates competence in classroom management.
     
          7.   Engages in professional growth.
     
          8.   Fulfills professional responsibilities established by the school district.
     
          9. Performs other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent or 
              Principal 
      
      
     
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:       Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking.
     
    WORKING CONDITIONS:              1.  Includes extremes of temperature and humidity.
                                                                2.  Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases.
     
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:          Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
     
    EVALUATION:                                 Performance of this job will be evaluated by the building principal according to the guidelines of the master contract.

    1. Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position.
     
     
    1. Demonstrates competence in planning and preparing for instruction.
     
     
    1. Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.
     
     
    1. Uses a variety of methods to monitor student learning.
     
     
    1. Demonstrates competence in classroom management.
     
     
    1. Engages in professional growth.
     
     
    1. Demonstrates proficiency according to the Iowa Teaching Standards.
     
     
    1. Work with teachers in the development of effective classroom management strategies and motivation techniques.
     
     
    1. Work with teachers to provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.
     
     
    1. Model lessons for teachers when appropriate.
     
     
    1. Work with teachers in assessing problem areas in curriculum and instruction and in finding and implementing appropriate solutions.
     
     
    1. Introduce teachers to methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement.
     
     
    1. Model best instructional practices through actual classroom demonstrations.
     
     
    1. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, and other school staff to strengthen all aspects of the instructional program.
     
     
    1. Work collaboratively with building and/or Professional Learning communities to develop and implement goals related to continuous inquiry and improved student achievement.

    1. Coordinates district-wide activities for the department.
