TITLE: Instructional Strategist 1 Special Education: Math background (Algebra/Geometry MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Meet certification requirements of a Strat. I SPED teacher through the Department of Education, State of Iowa. 2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. 3. Current highly successful (based on data) collaborative and co-teaching experience with Instructional Strategist 1 IEP students in an Algebra/Geometry environment. 4. Experience in Tier II academic/behavior interventions. Preferred: Math Endorsement REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: Teacher Associates and Volunteers as assigned. JOB GOAL: To help students achieve skills that will contribute
to their development as productive and
responsible citizens. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Demonstrates ability to enhance academic performance. 2. Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position. 3. Demonstrates competence in planning and preparing for instruction. 4. Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students. 5. Uses a variety of methods to monitor student learning. 6. Demonstrates competence in classroom management. 7. Engages in professional growth. 8. Fulfills professional responsibilities established by the school district. 9. Performs other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent or Principal PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Includes extremes of temperature and humidity. 2. Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the building principal according to the guidelines of the master contract. Bachelor’s degree in Education required
Strategist II required
Experience in classroom teaching in middle grades preferred
1. Meet the eight Iowa teaching standards and criteria.
2. Organizes and facilitates IEP meetings and completes necessary paperwork to meet district
and state requirements.
3. Develops and implements programming according to student needs.
4. Integrate technology to enhance student engagement and achievement.
5. Effectively design data-driven instruction and interventions.
6. Collaborate with colleagues to provide seamless, student-centered instruction. Builds positive relationships with parents and the community.
7. Exhibit willingness to be reflective and grow professionally.
8. Engage students and families in the program.
9. Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies.
10. Willingness to pursue professional development opportunities.
