    Hours:  6:00am-2:30pm  (8 hours a day), Approximately 211 working days/year


    Pay rate: $19.02/hr

    Desirable Position Criteria:

    • High School graduate, or equivalent, highly desired
    • Additional food service training, highly desired
    • Two years quantity cooking experience, highly desired
    • Previous supervisory/ management experience
    • School Nutrition Association and Iowa School Nutrition Association certification highly desired.
    • Serve Safe and HAACP certification, highly desired
    • Knowledge of quantity food preparation and techniques for preserving nutritional value
    • Knowledge of food service regulation and sanitary codes governing food service operations
    • Knowledge of work safety
    • Ability of organize workflow for maximum efficiency
    • Flexibility and knowledgeable of all job assignments including, but not limited to:  general worker, lunch clerk, cashier, head cook, satellite supervisor
    • Working knowledge of all equipment in all district kitchens and general knowledge regarding maintenance
    • Working knowledge of all district cash registers
    • Operating knowledge of the PrimeroEdge computer system
    • Ability to reconcile pre-payments and deposits with reports
    • Knowledge of printing low balance and negative balance reports
    • Ability to see the needs in total operation and assist in critical areas
    • Ability to meet and work with people in a professional and pleasant manner
    • Ability to organize varied tasks and meet deadlines in a timely manner
    • Ability to organize and display food in an attractive manner

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Report to assigned district kitchen
    • Some travel may be required
    • Make personal contacts with personnel, students, building patrons, federal/state inspectors, vendors, food service delivery drivers in a professional and pleasant manner
    • Prepare food as required and as needed
    • Periodically assist with receiving and delivering inventory
    • Make breakfast and lunch deposits
    • Assist with serving food in a pleasing manner
    • Maintain friendly atmosphere with co-workers, students, staff and parents
    • Maintain sanitary conditions and follow food safety procedures
    • Maintain food quality control
    • Maintain daily production records, follow guidelines, prepare food in timely manner
    • Help maintain neatness, organization and rotation of inventory stock
    • Maintain cleanliness and neatness of work area
    • Help with clean-up, dishes, sweeping, mopping, appropriately storing left-overs
    • Handle left-over food appropriately and in accordance with food safety guidelines.  Keep track of left-over food, keep track of stock in inventory, maintain rotation of left-overs
    • Report to the District Kitchen Supervisor of all relevant matters
    • Assist with training new employees and assign duties if required
    • Assist with administering conditions of employment per board policies
    • Requisition supplies, materials, and equipment per established procedures; assist with maintaining accurate inventory
    • Attend meetings and/or serves on committees as assigned
    • Help develop new menu ideas and recipes
    • Work cooperatively with clubs/organizations in providing catering for special events
    • Maintain professional growth through workshops, professional organizations, in-service programs, and/or professional materials
    • Maintain compliance with state and local health regulations
    • Work with staff to maintain a safe working environment
