    TITLE: Skilled Maintenance Job 474
     

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION: Maintaining the overall mechanical condition and safety of the school facility including but not limited to minor repair and routine maintenance of HVAC systems, security systems, plumbing, carpentry and electrical repair and various grounds duties. This would also include custodial-related duties of athletic facilities and buildings before, during, and after events under the supervision of a qualified staff member.
     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     
    1. Ability to use chemicals, equipment, tools and work processes in preventative maintenance of public facilities and grounds.

    2. Ability to read and comprehend labels, signs and written instructions.

    3. Ability to cross-train other skilled maintenance staff or Lead Custodians in areas of expertise.

    4. Ability to receive cross-training from staff members who are experts in a specific function that relates to repair and maintenance of facilities and grounds.

    5. Ability to  communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

    6. Ability to work independently.

    7. Ability to establish positive relations with others.

    8. Good health as confirmed by required physical exam.

    9. Physical condition that allows for the lifting of 50 pounds, the periodic pushing or pulling of over 100 pounds, the ability to work off a ladder or scaffolding, the ability to complete repetitious movement and constant moving, standing or walking for 8 hours per day.

    10. Ability to operate mechanical equipment including but not limited to mowers, weed trimmers, snow blowers, power tools, bobcats, tractors, and other mechanical equipment including but not limited to various hand tools and equipment.

    11. Ability to use communication equipment including but not limited to telephones, computers, fax machines, two-way radios, and cell phones.

    12. A past history of good attendance.

    13. Must have a valid driver’s license and possess a good driving record.

    14. Ability to work in inclement weather from extreme heat to extreme cold.

    15. Ability to work overtime, including nights and weekends, as directed.
       

     

    JOB PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

     
    1. Maintains the mechanical equipment in the district as directed by the Building & Grounds Director or Grounds and/or Maintenance Supervisor.

    2. Cross-train other skilled maintenance staff in areas of own expertise.

    3. Actively seeks cross-training in unfamiliar tasks.

    4. Identifies unsafe conditions and corrects in a timely fashion.

    5. Submit or complete work orders, daily log sheets and various other logs and inspection reports.

    6. Maintains control of specific line items in the budget. Orders supplies or equipment as needed following business office protocol.

    7. Complete snow removal and apply ice melt in a timely fashion as directed.

    8. Assist in preparing rooms for meetings, programs and other activities.

    9. Report all safety hazards.

    10. Secures the facility as directed.

    11. Participates as directed in all staff development training.

    12. Maintains a reliable attendance record.

    13. Maintains personal work area in a safe, clean and organized fashion.

    14. Performs other duties as assigned.
