    September 5-May 2017 Position
    This position is a grant-funded position through the United Way of Iowa and AmeriCorps. 

    Description (From AmeriCorps)
    AmeriCorps members serving with the Iowa Reading Corps implement the K-3rd grade Reading Corps model with fidelity, which includes meeting with their students every day of the school week during (and sometimes beyond) normal school hours. Your schedule must be consistent throughout the school year so the students tutoring schedule is consistent.

    Member serves at his or her assigned school for the entire term of service. 900 total hours for this position (30-35 hours per week). 

    Training
    Reading Corps members will receive multiple day training in research-based literacy strategies and will have weekly meetings with building literacy coach and/or principal to track fidelity of program. Program is designed as a great introduction to intervention for those considering a career in education providing training and hands-on experience in literacy intervention and a great resume builder.

    Compensation
    This position is considered a half-time position through Americorps and will, as a result, receive a living allowance of $6,315 over the course of the term paid in equal distributions, twice per month during the term of service. Members who successfully complete their year of service will receive and education award of $2907.50.The award has a seven year expiration period.
