  •   QUALIFICATIONS: 
    1. Must be 18 years of age or older by the start date.
    2. High School Diploma or equivalent
    3. 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university. 
    4. Strong interpersonal skills

    REPORTS TO: School Principal and AmeriCorps Program Manager

    JOB GOAL: To provide supplemental practice through tutoring children in second and third grade to develop literacy skills.  The tutor will utilize evidence-based interventions to ensure grade-level reading.

    TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties and responsibilities as may be
    assigned, including but not limited to:
    1. Conducts one-on-one tutoring with students using evidence-based interventions provided by the school district. 
    2. Assists students as they improve reading skills and abilities to reach grade-level goals. 
    3. Develops and maintains a weekly tutoring schedule for students.
    4. Acts on feedback and coaching from teachers, academic coaches, and program manager. 
    5. Assesses, with a high level of accuracy, students’ continual progress through progress monitoring and benchmarking. 
    6. Documents student's weekly progress and interventions.
    7. Regularly reviews student data with teacher and program manager to monitor the effectiveness of interventions and determines revisions, as needed. 
    8. Communicates with students in an age-appropriate manner.
    9. Communicates with teachers, program manager and principal regarding student schedules, interventions, and progress. 
    10. Ensures the confidentiality of all student records or test scores. 
    11. Attends all required training sessions, meetings, and coaching sessions. 
    12. Performs other tasks, as assigned by the Principal and other administrators, as designated by the Superintendent.
    13. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
    14. Supports the Meridian Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
      
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As determined by grant provisions and the MPSD Board of Trustees

    EVALUATION: Annually
