    Purpose Statement
    Improve student achievement; align math/science curriculum and instruction to Arizona State Standards
    Qualifications and Essential Skills:
    1. Preferred master’s degree in related content area.
    2. Valid Arizona secondary teaching certificate and Administrative Certificate.
    3. Minimum of 5 years classroom teaching experience in a core content area.
    4. Experience in curriculum design, alignment and articulation.
    5. Working knowledge or experience with the ASIP process.
    6. Experience in professional staff development.
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Supervises and leads development of explicit written curriculum in designated content areas.  Includes collaborative development of curriculum guides, curriculum maps, common shared assessments, unit plans and lesson plans that are aligned with state and district standards.
    2. Performs review and evaluation of curriculum guides and CRTs and establishes collaborative plans for revision.
    3. Meets regularly with designated department chairs and establishes learning communities by subject and content areas.
    4. Monitors and evaluates vertical and horizontal assessment and alignment of curriculum by subject and content areas.
    5. Meets regularly with Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction to establish priorities for curriculum revision and professional staff development needs.
    6. Works collaboratively with campus administrators, staff developers and department chairs in addressing curriculum and staff development needs as related to the school improvement plan process.
    7. Attends workshops and researches scientifically based best instructional practices and shares information with administrative and certified staff.
    8. Assists in recruiting and retaining highly qualified teaching staff.
    9. Works with feeder districts in developing a comprehensive explicit plan for vertical articulation of curriculum and professional staff development.
    10. Works with Director of Curriculum and Instruction to interpret data for purposes of department, school wide and district goal setting and planning.
    11. Provides information for updating district Academic Planning Guide and takes part in review of proposed new courses.
    12. Performs classroom observations and provides feedback/input to teachers, staff developers and administrative staff on implementation of curriculum and instructional practices.
    13. Assesses staff development needs in assigned content areas and conducts staff development workshops.
    14. Perform other duties as assigned.
    Working Environment:
    The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; and some fine finger dexterity.  The job is performed in a somewhat clean and healthy environment.  The working hours are somewhat flexible as the job requires some evening and Saturday work.

    Evaluation:                      This position will be evaluated annually as outlined in Governing Board Policy

    Salary Range:                  Administrative Salary Schedule
