Who We Are: Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 13,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The educational interpreter is directly responsible to the Director of Special Education Early Childhood and Elementary Programs or their designee, the assigned teacher of hearing impaired, and the building principal. The educational interpreter's primary function is to facilitate communication among hearing impaired students and their hearing peers, the classroom teacher, and other personnel in the school system.Location: Lincoln CenterResponsibilities:General Duties:

Language LiaisonIn an effort to provide direct, immediate services to non-English speaking parents, students and community members the Language Liaison will be responsible for providing oral interpretation and written translation in language identified.Location: GlenwoodResponsibilities: (1) Meet, place and respond to calls from parents and other non-English speaking individuals; (2) Assist office workers with the processing of registration and parental permission forms for the enrollment of non-English speaking students and/or parents and guardians; (3) Communicate effectively orally and in writing in language identified; (4) Participate in IEP reviews, 504 meetings, English Language Learner conferences based upon the language needs of the student and parents/guardians; (5) Provide written translation of IEP forms, Section 504 plan, school letters, individual parent communication, and other documents as identified by the school and district; (6) Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner; (7) Demonstrate initiative for recognizing and resolving issues, concerns, or problems; (8) Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups toward task accomplishment; (9) Assist school personnel in their efforts to make referrals to community agencies; (10) Assist school personnel in obtaining specific information; (11) Assist in implementing collaborative activities with district/school staff; (12) Attends school, district or community meetings as needed to provide interpretation services; (13) Assists with end of year English Language Learners program language assessment conferences; (14) Provide interpretation and translation in regards to student discipline conferences, including hearing and appeals; (15) Disseminates pertinent information to appropriate parties; (16) Provide language assistance to students in academic and social settings; (17) Potential to serve on committees, councils, and/or task forces; (18) Represent the District to outside shareholders in a professional and supportive manner; (19) Complete required reports and maintain all required records; (20) Keep a record of appointments, mileage and home visits as assigned; (21) Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications: (1) Meet Illinois and federal NCLB paraprofessional approval; (2) Must pass District 60 Bilingual Skills and Proficiency Test; (3) Ability to conduct oral and written communication in Spanish; (4) Personal transportation; (5) Ability to pass the paraprofessional basic skills test administered in the Human Resources Office, 214 Washington St, Waukegan, IL 60085Salary: Per Salary StructureApplication Deadline: Candidates must submit an online application by the deadline.

He/she will be indirectly responsible to the Director of Elementary Education and Director of Special Education for all matters pertaining to curriculum, instructional methods, assessment and materials. LOCATION: OT/PT Department and itinerant to school buildings as needed GENERAL DUTIES RELATED TO NON-ACADEMIC INSTRUCTION: 1. Upon Request, assist therapists to collect equipment and materials for daily therapy.2. Assist with students during therapy session3. Assist transporting student to and from treatment area4. Prepare treatment area prior to session5. Assists with obtaining Doctor's Authorization6. Assists with contacting families and physicians7. Maintain the department's student database8. Maintain records and statistical information on problem-solving requests, initial evaluations, discontinued services, and move-in services.9. Assist in ordering and requisitioning equipment, supplies, and evaluation materials10. Receive and label new therapy equipment and supplies11. Maintain inventory of equipment for department12. Assist Therapists in the scheduling process of students at the start of the school year.13. Assist with end of year duties which includes updating database, data sheets, & statistics14. Assist in the effective functioning and maintenance of department's library/media center15. Maintain all testing and evaluation materials16. Scheduling of initial evaluations for new students as requested17. Assist with maintaining departmental forms18. Attend departmental meetings and record meeting minutes19. Secure equipment as requested for meetings and in-services activities as needed (TV, VCR, overheads, etc)20. Manage department's telephones and receive visitors21. Copy materials for the department22. Filing, laminating, & faxing as requested23. Obtain and distribute mail daily24. Maintain department records of therapists' schedules and keep record of schedule deviations and absences.25. Other related duties as assigned within the parameters of the existing duties of their work category. QUALIFICATIONS: (1) High School diploma or equivalent (2) Ability to pass the paraprofessional basic skills test administered by the Human Resources Department (3) Valid Driver's license and transportation.Salary: Salary Structure
