    Position Title: Substitute Cook

    Pay: $14.63 per hour


    Job Summary: Serves as a part of the kitchen team (Cook Classification) when a regular employee is absent, providing duties engaged in food operations in schools within the district.  To assist the superintendent toward the accomplishment of the mission of the Woodland Public Schools to assure that within a nurturing and stimulating environment each of our diverse students and graduates achieve literacy and appropriate core competencies and becomes a responsible and compassionate citizen. Work is performed under the direction of the Food Service Manager and Executive Director of Business Services.

    Qualifications:
    • Experience working in an institutional or restaurant kitchen
    • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds to stove level
    • Physically able to bend and stoop
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • Valid Food Handler's Card issued in the state of Washington
    Such alternatives to the above requirements and desirable qualifications may be made as the district finds appropriate.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Keeps kitchen area clean, including washing dishes
    • Prepares various daily food items
    • Assists other kitchen staff as necessary
    • Fills various dispensers
    • Maintains order in the kitchen area
    • Other duties as needed by Food Service Manager or Head Cook
    • Participates in the preparation and serving of food in the cafeteria
    • Participates in cleaning of kitchen and related areas
    • Follows required sanitation procedures
    • Ensure that all equipment in the cafeteria area is in safe, working condition, and notifies the appropriate authority when repairs are needed
    • Participates in maintaining records on food and supplies received and used
    • Provides cashiering duties using the Skyward student information system
    • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
     

    Physical Demands:
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear.   The employee will be required to bend or twist at the waist more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.

     

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

    Work Environment:
    The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
