    Position Title: Spanish Translator
    Posting #: 1354
    Location: Woodland Primary School (Located at WPS but doing work districtwide)

    Days/Hrs: 6.5 hrs/day
    Start Date: As soon as possible
    Pay Schedule: Classified (qualifies for additional $1.00 per hour for being fluent in a Spanish)
    Benefits:  Approximately $750 per month from district for medical, dental and vision benefits.  Position is WA State Department of Retirement Systems eligible.


    Job Summary:  Successful candidate will work with individual teachers to help support our English Language Learners in various academic classes. In addition, successful candiate will help with translating school documents and working with high school staff to assist with phone calls and drop in visits which require Spanish speaking. To assist the superintendent toward the accomplishment of the mission of the Woodland Public Schools to assure that within a nurturing and stimulating environment each of our diverse students and graduates achieve literacy and appropriate core competencies and becomes a responsible and compassionate citizen. Work is performed under the direction of the principal.
      
    Qualifications:
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Fluent in both Spanish and English
    • A love of working with students and their pursuit of learning
    • Ability to work and communicate well with staff members
    • One year of job related experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
    • Experience which demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and skills in working effectively in a team environment, providing support to achieve the desired goal(s) for the classroom and/or program area
    • Possess excellent problem solving, analytical, and conflict resolution skills and ability to think quickly.
    • Successful experience as part of an educational team
    • Must complete required Translator Certification
    Such alternatives to the above requirements and desirable qualifications may be made as the district finds appropriate.

    • Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements

    • Serve as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our students

    • Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing and record keeping
    • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
