CORRECTIONAL OFFICER
The Sheriff’s office allows candidates to test year-round for the position of corrections deputy. Correctional officers are required to be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment and have no felony or certain misdemeanor convictions (a full list of the disqualifying misdemeanor convictions can be found on the ILETSB webpage: https://www.ptb.illinois.gov/resources/decertification/). Upon employment, correctional officers are required to live in Champaign County or a surrounding county bordering Champaign County.
Starting salary in 2022 for a correctional officer is approximately $44,491 in the first year, $47,029 after a year of service, and $51,958 by five years of service. (This contract is still being negotiated and the salary will likely increase for 2023.)

Job Title: Court Services Officer (Full-Time, Non-Exempt)

The Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center provides safe, humane, and secure temporary custody of juveniles pending court proceedings, or those who have been adjudicated on delinquent charges. In addition to ensuring the safety of youth while in secure care, the Department provides a wide range of programming to address the physical, educational, emotional, and social needs of the resident population, offering officers the opportunity to utilize their knowledge and skills to effect positive change in the lives of at-risk youth. The behavior management program utilized at the Center is a group-based, behavior modification system that allows youth to be rewarded for positive behavior and positive behavioral change, and helps shape new behavior by reinforcing "small steps" along the process of change. This position requires officers to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts can vary from 9 hours to 11 hours.
Applicants should note that this position is part of the Fraternal Order of Police Collective Bargaining Agreement for Adult and Juvenile Probation Officers.
Job Title: Data Analyst (Full-Time, Non-Exempt)

Performs tactical, strategic, and administrative analysis using complex relational databases, highly secure law enforcement computer applications and other software to conduct statistical analysis, detect and analyze crime series/patterns, forecast crime trends, and identify suspect/crime/victim relationships to organize, disseminate and present findings to the appropriate units for response. Creates reports, presentations, and other documents for a variety of other non-sworn functions to support Division services and activities. Install electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodel projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed.
Repairs electrical equipment and controls circuits; replaces faulty electrical switches; repairs refrigeration equipment.
Performs electrical lock and control panel repairs to effectively maintain building security.
Assist with renovation/remodeling of buildings, repair plaster and drywall, paint building structures.
Perform outside custodial duties such as clean and sweep litter, remove snow and ice from building walkways and stairs.
Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs. Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth.
Cut lawn using hands, power, or riding mower; trim edges around walks, flower beds, walls, etc... Spray lawns, trees and shrubs with fertilizers and insecticides.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
High School Diploma or General Education degree (GED).
One year of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment, maintenance and repair.
Acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Good skills in the use of hand and power tools.
Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's License
Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
