Preschool Teacher (Maternity Leave Replacement)

Overview
Provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction and care for a preschool classroom during a maternity leave, ensuring continuity of learning, safety, and family communication.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
• Implement daily instruction aligned to NJ Preschool Teaching & Learning Standards using developmentally appropriate practice.
  Deliver lessons/centers that support early literacy, numeracy, SEL, and play-based learning; differentiate for diverse learners (IEPs, MLLs/ELLs).  

• Maintain a safe, nurturing classroom; supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch/recess as assigned. 

• Collect observational data and document student progress (e.g., Teaching Strategies GOLD or similar).

• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, CST/related services, and administrators to support student goals.

• Communicate regularly with families and uphold school policies and routines.
 
Qualifications
 
• New Jersey P-3 or Nursery–Grade 3 certification (CE/CEAS/Standard).

• Experience in early childhood settings preferred; knowledge of Creative Curriculum/TS GOLD a plus.

• Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills.

• Current NJ criminal history/fingerprint clearance
 
Schedule & Compensation
 
• Monday–Friday, full school day

• Compensation per district long-term substitute rate

Job Description:

SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL NURSE (certified, nontenurable, per diem, as needed basis)

QUALIFICATIONS: ? New Jersey Department of Education School Nurse Standard Certification ? Current Nursing License from the State of New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs

REPORTS TO: Principal

DUTIES: 1. Provide critical care services to medically fragile students as assigned 2. Provide specialized and specific health care pursuant to student’s individual health care plan or individualized education program as determined by a physician’s or advanced practice nurse’s care orders 3. Administer medication as required 4. Complete and maintain documentation of first-aid and administration of medication as required 5. Assist with personal hygiene tasks for assigned student(s) 6. Maintain effective communication with medical, nursing, and district personnel 7. Provide nursing care consistent with school nurse certificate 8. Monitor health status of student(s) at offsite locations and in the school building 9. Assist the school bus driver in securing assistive apparatus, such as wheelchairs and harnesses on the vehicle. 10. Assist medically fragile students in exiting and entering the vehicle 11. Accompany medically fragile students to and from the vehicle and on offsite excursions as required. 12. Perform other assigned tasks as required by administration

Description:  Substitute Teacher 

Job Summary:  A Substitute Teacher supervises students in the event that their regular teacher is unable to lead class. Duties include managing classroom behavior, quickly interpreting lesson plans and creating reports to inform the students’ permanent teacher of their success. 

A substitute teacher:
• Follows lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
• Manages the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
• Adapts teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
• Supervises students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria
• Provides in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan
• For long-term substitutes: develops lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher’s past lesson plans

Qualifications:  Holders of an instructional Certificate of Eligibility (CE), Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS), a standard instructional certificate, or an administrative or educational services certificate shall not be required to obtain a substitute credential before serving as a substitute teacher 
• Substitute Credential 
  • Completion of 30 semester-hour credits at an accredited college or university.
  • Criminal History Record Check: approval date must be within five months of the application date with “Substitute Teacher” as the job position.
