Our Health and Physical Education Teachers design, adapt and teach PE/health classes that meet each student's individual needs. You have the opportunity to work collaboratively with another TPC PE/Health teacher as part of an intradisciplinary team.

Essential Functions of the Health and Physcial Education Teacher include:
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of the diverse learners at TPC.
- Incorporate standards-based physical education goals and objectives into students IEP’s.
- Provide weekly health classes to enhance the health and daily life skills of the students, as well as, meet the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health/Physical Education from an accredited college or university. - NJ Teacher of Health/Physical Education certificate. - Experience with individuals with autism and multiple disabilities or Adapted Physical Education Degree is a plus!

We’re seeking Instructional Paraprofessionals to join our team and Make a Difference!
The Phoenix Center’s purpose is to provide a well-integrated, educational and therapeutic program focusing on the development of the whole child and their family. Our team is made up of highly motivated and goal-oriented individuals who work together towards this common goal.
Our staff creates customized and individualized programs for our students and the reason The Phoenix Center exists is to care for, educate and empower our students so that they may develop skills which will maximize their adaptation to adulthood. As the Instructional Paraprofessional, you will assist the Special Education Teacher with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized skill acquisition and behavior treatment programs.
In this role, you will also participate in the facilitation of educational programs with the students, both in and out of the school building, and assure student safety at all times. You are expected to consistently review, understand and implement student written behavior intervention plans, and document data collection as required. Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis is a plus but not required.
Requirements:
Minimum of High School diploma (or equivalent); Associate’s degree preferred.
Experience working with individuals with autism or special needs preferred.

We’re seeking Special Education Teachers to join our team and Make a Difference!
Our Special Education Teachers design, adapt and teach programs geared to each student's Individual Education Program (IEP.) Teachers work as part of an interdisciplinary team with The Phoenix Center's behaviorists, social workers, counselors, employment specialists, occupational, physical and speech/language therapists and paraprofessionals.
TPC educators leverage this collaborative teaching approach in their group and individual classroom instruction as well as in the community in a way that improves students’ quality of life and prepares them for life beyond the classroom.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Educational planning and implementing lessons based on student IEP's. Lessons should be developmentally appropriate, age-appropriate and must align with NJSLS (New Jersey Student Learning Standards).
Meeting and communicating with parents to report on educational progress at least two times a year. Daily email communication with families is also required.
Managing a team of paraprofessionals, which includes overseeing their daily classroom interactions, providing leadership as well as fostering a mutually respectful and engaging educational environment.
Meet with child study teams during the course of the year to help determine the child's IEP, and to report on student achievement.
Meeting with related service providers so that they may appropriately reinforce in class those goals and activities designed by these specialists.
Attend unit and Professional Learning Community Meetings (PLC).
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university with special education emphasis.
NJDOE Certification as Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped and K-5/K-6 Elementary or Middle School Certificate.
Experience with individuals with autism and multiple disabilities is a plus.
