Summary of position:
In collaboration with the Program Administrator, provide appropriate administration of educational programs, projects, and services for students in accordance with state, federal, and local mandates while collaborating with local school districts.

• Recruit, select, supervise, and evaluate professional and non-professional employees as assigned.
• Assist in the coordination, facilitation, and monitoring of the implementation of programs and services in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and requirements. 
• Assist in the coordination and implementation of evidence-based curriculum and educational programming.
• Identify the need for and provide staff development and training for assigned staff. 
• Assist with providing staff development, training, and consultation to regular educators and special educators on instructional methods and accommodations for students with disabilities.
 
Qualifications:
• Valid Pennsylvania Certification as Supervisor of Special Education or Principal.
• Advanced degree in Special Education or related field.
• Five (5) years experience in Special Education or related field.

POSITION GOAL:
Ensure that all BCIU buildings (owned or leased) are clean, secured and maintained by, in part, effectively supervising and directing the work of the custodial staff.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
• Communicate, direct, evaluate, and supervise custodians in their general duties and oversee special cleaning concerns.
• Perform all duties while maintaining the highest degree confidentiality regarding personnel matters and material seen or overhead in the course of performing job duties.
• Monitor and evaluate the work performed by all custodians to ensure that all BCIU buildings are maintained in an appropriate manner. This is to include making site visits.
• Lead in the hiring process for all custodial positions.
• Maintain sufficient inventory and order needed supplies through the Purchasing Department.
• Ensure that meeting rooms are set up according to seating requests and that appropriate equipment is available. 
• Assist in developing procedures and introducing equipment to improve safety and efficiency.
• Review custodial timesheets for clarity and accuracy.
• Familiarize the lead custodian with all building and daily duties related to overseeing the custodial department.
• When necessary, assist custodians in daily cleaning duties.
• Shovel snow/salt, when necessary, to provide a clean area at all entrances/exits.
• Assist visitors with equipment utilization or problems.
• Secure buildings and grounds, including lights.
• Greet evening visitors and direct to proper person, area or building.
• On Call to attend to custodial issues.
• All other related duties as assigned.
   
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
Non-Exempt, Full Time, Twelve months/year.  Salary established by the Intermediate Unit Board of Directors per the Compensation and Benefits Plan for Middle Management staff, SRI 16.

SALARY:
Starting rate $52,554/year
 
HOURS:
2 - 11 p.m.  Monday-Friday

Summary of position:

Job Responsibilities (see attached description for additional details):
• Accept referrals for children suspected of, or exhibiting communication disorders.
• Ensure referrals are entered into the screening/evaluation process as per program procedures.
• Conduct screening/evaluations individually, as part of a multidisciplinary team, and/or as part of a trans-disciplinary team.
• Identify through screening/evaluation children with communication disorders.

• ASHA’s Certificate of Clinical Competency preferred.
• Post-graduate coursework with a focus on communication and reading/literacy desired.
• Experience working with and evaluating students with special needs/developmental delays and with developing and implementing educational programs is required.
• For Speech and Language Therapist assigned to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program, experience with deaf culture and students who are profoundly hearing impaired preferred.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license necessary.
• The holder of this position could be required as part of his or her duties to engage in activities that can be charged to a Medical Assistance (MA) or other state or federal healthcare program. I.  Server Support

• A strong understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and security systems.
• Demonstrated technical experience in the administration and troubleshooting of Windows servers, direct and network attached storage as well as experience supporting virtualized server (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and desktop environments.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience managing system/server, in the Microsoft Azure environment, resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, backup and recoverability.

Guest Teacher Program
Substitute Teacher Positions in Berks County
 
The Berks County Intermediate Unit offers a Guest Teacher Program for individuals who are interested in serving as substitute teachers in Berks County. The program is designed to provide participants with limited or no classroom experience with the necessary training to qualify as day-to-day substitutes. Anyone possessing a bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university is eligible to apply.*
 
Guest Teacher training is offered at the BCIU main office in Muhlenberg Township, located at 1111 Commons Boulevard, Reading 19605. The program fee is $25.00, which includes the cost of the two-day training and the initial emergency permit fee.
 
Through the Guest Teacher Program, participants learn about classroom management, lesson-planning, special education services, development and behavior of age groups, and how to deal effectively with today’s students. After meeting all PA Department of Education emergency permit eligibility requirements, successfully completing the two-day training, and submitting all required paperwork, the BCIU will apply for a Type 06 day-to-day substitute emergency permit on a new Guest Teacher’s behalf. Once the permit is approved, a Guest Teacher becomes eligible to apply to work as a day-to-day substitute in any subject area and grade level for the academic school year in the following participating Berks County public school entities:
